Hunting on and off for past 5 years, mainly Pheasant(IN) Woodcock and Grouse(MI). Getting a GSP to start bird hunting with. My 14 yr old son just passed his hunt test. We do allot of Skeet and Trap shooting. I look forward to having a consistent hunt partner. I've been training dogs for over 10 years for police work and personal protection. Longtime baseball coach so now my son is in High School my coaching career is over and going to be hunting and trailing more :) Look forward to getting good ideas and hopefully some new hunting partners.

Greetings fellow Hoosier!
Hope you can hang out and enjoy this forum.
I live in SW Indiana where I chase the few quail we have around these parts. Native of SD and go back to hunt pheasant each fall...usually in November.
Glad you are taking advantage of hunting with your son.
Hope your season is good!

Welcome to UPH, drop by often

I was just in your great state of Indiana over the weekend to watch our Gophers get beat up on by the Boilermakers in football. I can’t understand how the pheasants don’t take root in your state it looks like perfect habitat for them. Welcome to the site.

Welcome fellow Hoosier. I have a gsp myself. You'll enjoy having one to hunt with. It will keep the kids busy too. Good luck on your hunting this year and the years to come.

Welcome, Ma'am

Welcome to the site! UPHers, this is a female hunter. Let's make her and all female hunters feel very welcome, encouraged to be active members and posters, and to enjoy this forum with all of us.

Ma'am, please share your hunting stories and knowledge with us and tell us what you think, should care to do so, without hesitation.

Sorry I said welcome "ma'am." I though the uppermost post on the second page, by a female, was the first post in this thread.

Welcome, sir!

Welcome Southpaw from a fellow C. Indiana resident.

And Duke, you were actually in the vicinity of the best pheasant hunting in Indiana. Just NW of the stadium in W. Lafayette is some great pheasant hunting. I regularly see over 100 birds in a day when I hunt that area. It's not a huge swath of the state but in our little corner of pheasant heaven we got birds if you can find the cover (and get permission)!

Welcome and have a great time. My brother-in-law is a K9 officer here in Minnesota and the interesting thing I learned about those dogs is how they consider the bite and/or apprehension as `play'' for them. So while the dog appears to be all angry, it's just having fun.

I'll bet that GSP will be a well-behaved pup.

I actually got picked for the reserved hunt this year after 10 yrs. of trying! Im pumped up! Cant wait to get on some wild birds!
