As always, my old GSP Taz gets to go out on our screened in porch. While preparing lunch, I though I would go pet him and walk out to find the screen door destroyed. It's been three days and nothing. Our neighbors saw him walk into the field (135) acres across from my house. Several of us on Rangers have combed the field and found nothing. The grass is around 2-3 foot tall so it would be a miracle.

Earlier that day, I had to really shake him to wake him up; he's nearing 15. I think he went out his way...walked to the field, hunted, got tired and went to sleep. Sad, sad day at the McClellan's house.
 
Yes, a sad story, indeed. One could assume the best, as you did, he just went to sleep somewhere. At 15, you must have had some great times together!

Years ago had a dog wander off; those were the day's before leash laws and he always hung around. Just disappeared one day and never found .

I am really sorry to hear. At least if he knew, he went out the way he wanted and hunted! I know this is an extremely tough time but in a way that should make you feel even more proud of him(or looking back as time moves forward)! My condolences jmc
