These are the pictures of Gunne's first 2 points. The pigeon is in the dark brown dried weeds. I am happy as I can be with his progress. He will be 4 months the 5th of May. We held the check cord pretty tight in case he broke and tried to catch the bird............Bob

Congratulations Sir! Watching pup come along and watching new people get into the sport are the most rewarding components of the tradition IMO. Good looking dog!

I thought he might be pointing at the giant green grass snake...:D...just kidding Bob; congrats on the new pup.

Outstanding Bob, He should be right at home this fall in the fields. Great pics

I had Gunne out to the trainers. We planted 3 pigeons for him. This was his second time at this with the trainer. When he pointed the second one the trainer wanted to see how long he would hold his point. He pointed for about a minute. He then still holding, raised his left leg up under his chest. he held that for about 30 seconds and put it back on the ground. He then lifted the right leg up under his chest. This one he held for about 20 seconds and put it back on the ground. He then held his point for a good minute or so. The trainer said all in all about 3 minutes. Then he broke and flushed the bird. I wonder what was going through his mind. We go back for another bird session tomorrow. The trainer said he is going to a fine hunting dog, he really likes Gunne and Gunne loves him. I forgot today is Gunnes Birthday, 6 months today. No I did not bake him a cake........Bob

Congrats Bob and Gunne keep up the good work and I am sure you two... well three (with Tony) will have a lot of fun this season!!

I am ecstatic Gunne went to the trainers this morning and pointed 2 pure white pigeons. Dan the trainer planted them in a field a ways from his house, where he could shoot. Gunne went in on the 1st bird and Dan had him stay steady. He had his right paw up under the chest in a classic point and he held it for about 4 minutes. Then he dropped the paw, telling us he was getting ready to break. When he broke the bird flushed and Dan dropped it 1 shot from a 12 gauge O/U. Gunne ran to it but did not know really what to do. He smelled the bird picked it up and then dropped it. He then took off hunting so Dan worked him into the 2nd bird. This one he pointed for about 3 minutes before it flushed. Dan again dropped it the 12 gauge. Gunne ran over to the bird picked it up and danced around with it for little bit and dropped it. Dan got him and we put him up into the pick-up. Dan was very happy no reaction to the big gun at all. I had told him I started gun breaking him at 10 weeks. Dan checked him a few times and we agreed it was safe to do what we did today. Dan said he will be a ready and a good hunting dog by pheasant season...............Bob
