Goldador retriever wanted

An older lady here had a labradoodle. I got to spend a couple hours with it when it was young, man that dog learned fast. I taught him come, sit, stay, fetch in about an hour. I’ve often wondered what kind of field dog they would make.

I'm not sure, I've never seen one of those out in the field. I do see a lot of them around town.

Standard poodles were a hunting breed at one time. I suppose there will be some crosssthat are decent bird dogs. We used to find them for free in shopping carts at the supermarket, now people pay big bucks for doodles. Nice dogs, but maybe God’s way of saying you have too much money.

Cross breeding throws everything in a cocked hat. Predictability disappears and outliers happen. I’ve seen some very good mixed breed dogs, but they don’t pass on their genetics reliably like a purebred.
I've never thought of that, but I suppose that's right. The laborator and the golden retriever cross is a really good cross.

I have a Labradoodle who I've trained from a puppy and is just over a year old now. He is awesome for me. Only lost 1 bird all year and it was more my fault than his. His nose is wonderful. Recalls great. He's e-collar trained but only needs an occasional beep if he gets hot on a rabbit or something. He also duck hunts and loves retrieving in the water. Doesn't shed (which is why I even went down that road). Perfect dog for me and my wife.

I'm looking for a yellow goldador female around May ,1.puppy
I sell Golden's for a fair price. Some of the doodle mutts go for more maney that I charge for a good Golden. I don't believe all the hype that surrounds the mixed breeds. I have done the research and the unknowns are a big risk. Give me a call if you want to talk about Goldens.

What could possibly be the advantage for this mix? Long hair or shorter hair? I know people think they reinvented the wheel with a Goldador but what's to gain? The dogs do the same thing, the same way. Every one I've ever encountered looked more like a lab and was an accidental breeding sold for the vet cost of raising a pup to the age of sale. There was nothing wrong with them (good hunting dogs), but i don't get the intention of it.

Nobody in their right mind that has a healthy field bred proven golden retreivers is going to breed it to a labrador. Nobody in their right mind that has a healthy field bred proven laradors is going to breed it to a golden retreiver. End of story.

I bet the ones for sale come from family non hunting pet dogs and probably are sketchy on health clearances. To me a super bad idea just because years ago you had one that was a good hunter. What is the upside??

Plus you want a yellow one?? How many litters do you have to choose from? My guess not many so travel a very long ways to buy an expensive non hunting mutt. Hmmm, Good luck on your Gucci designer mutt. To quote you, thumbs down. 😁

The intention is to get lab and golden retriever all in one dog..

My sister has a goldador. Or at least it looks like one. It was a rescue. As in she picked it up on the side of the road and nobody claimed it. She’s one of those people. It’s gun shy now. 50 lbs overweight and has the worst hips I’ve ever seen. I feel sorry for the guy he should be put down. She’s always had shorter labs. They were way overweight but sound and could carry it.
As far as doodles go the people I know that have them treat them like poodles with the grooming. And they are smart, super high energy and most not all have no manners. Owners with more dog than they bargained for. A field bred poodle would be cool.

What does a Golden retriever give a Labrador that the Labrador doesn't already have? What is a Golden better at?
Totally agree. I can't believe someone hasn't bred a field bred poodle to a field bred lab to create a hunting labradoodle no one has really ask for.
