Getting old is not fun!

My dad as still rabbit hunting alone all day at 89. He wouldn't wait a couple days for me to get off work. I thought I would get those genes, but it sure doesn't feel like it!

I'm 66 and I can't hunt all day like I used to. I hunt and walk in the field until my legs get tired and work my way back to the truck. I used to hunt late into the day but my legs only have so many miles in them these days. I go back to the motel much earlier than I used to. I have a couple surgeries coming up for skin cancer and a cataract in my left eye that I'm going to get fixed next year. I miss more than I used too. It is what it is. I try not to measure my hunting by how many miles I walk or how many birds I kill any more. I try to get out enough that the dogs are tired and are happy and if we can into some birds and do some shooting....it was a good day. If we don't...well that's hunting and it was still a good day. It is what you make of it.

I too am 66, and it is harder now. Covid in 2020 about got me but did get my lung capacity. I do decent on flat ground but hills and cattail slews are hard. Thank goodness for inhalers. Lol. But, put in over 30 miles walking in ND this year, so still able to go. But every year you think about will it happen next year. Will I still be able? Hopefully still able all the way to the end. Love the time with my dogs and friends every year.

I agree. Just getting out there with the dogs is fun.

I sure hope I can still hunt at 81. I've never had any knee issues, but hunting alone at 81 is probably not a good idea.
My wife knows exactly where I am cause she has the locator thing with our I phones. I tore a miniscus in my knee a few years back and had it scoped, followed doctor s orders and I can not for the life of me tell you what knee it was.
