Age of a geezer?
How the fuck did did you train the dogs to work that close? Are you implying that us Geezers are too old to walk? jonnyB and I busted heavy, waste high CRP for over 3 hours last Friday
I guess that needs to me determined. We're thinking at least 70.Age of a geezer?
My Grandfather (he died of cancer in 2012) had to become a permanent poster/blocker the last few years of his life because he couldn't walk anymore. He hated it. I could tell he didn't even want to go with but we drug him along anyways. I think he got at least some satisfaction when he folded up a rooster that buzzed the tower passed him.BTW, if I had to become a permanent blocker I'd give up hunting.
Pfft. 27 here. Geezer is anyone older than 30. Geriatrics are 50+!Geezer is defined by who you ask. I would estimate the following...
Ask someone under 21: Geezer is anyone older than about 50 - 55 years
Ask someone 22 - 40: Geezer is probably around 60+
Ask someone 41 - 59: Geezer is probably around 70+
Ask someone in their 60s: Geezer is probably around 80+
Too much sun, too much tobacco, too much alcohol can all make you appear much older than your actual age.

Bausch and Lomb make a water soluble lens similar to a contact that minimizes if not eliminates pain from cornea scratches. I am not sure if they are available without a prescriptions from an optometrist. They are magic! No gun, no boom, no retrieve, dog cry. As far as cover goes, hunt where the birds are. Listen to your dog. Use a bell to locate.
Always wear glasses, but they are not 100% protective as tall grasses slip underneath them. Scratched my cornea chasing Kansas quail.
Most painful experience and woke up every 20 minutes, no sleep and could not drive. I was glad I was with a friend as the pain lasted 36 hours
Yes, I’m a geezer too.
I might add that I just had LASIK surgery the week before.
Three hours to hunt and 3 days to recover....Are you implying that us Geezers are too old to walk? jonnyB and I busted heavy, waste high CRP for over 3 hours last Friday
Yes, this. I will block when I need to if nobody else is volunteering. But since I have two labs-usually alternating them-I usually am a marcher. I'm just a middle-aged geezer-72. I hunt primarily for my dogsSometimes you have to hunt the cover that's on the land you have permission to hunt. That was the case with Jon and I. As far as keeping dogs close in that kind of cover it is a challenge. Especially with my Brittany that can range out to 200+ yards. But that's why I have a GPS collars. But she is good about coming back and checking in with me and I can bring her in with either my whistle or collar.
BTW, if I had to become a permanent blocker I'd give up hunting. Blocking is shooting, not hunting. I enjoy being in the field with my dog and watching her work. Hell, I wouldn't even have to carry a gun to have a good time. It's more about time in the field with my dog and friends than it is about harvesting birds. In my 68 years of hunting I think I've shot enough pheasants for one lifetime. But I still do like to put a few in the bag for the dog if nothing else.
Ha! I love the grading in the geezer class!I'm just a middle-aged geezer-72.
