I shoot 26" doubles because I do more quail hunting than pheasants and short barrels lend themselves better to the "snap" shots quail present but my next purchase may be a dedicated pheasant gun with 28" barrels.

jmac in kansas you can take the plug out i like 5 shots lol getting five shots in three days this year your really into them (sad)

Not that I have the problem around here but if I ever shot 3 roosters off a flush my dog would probably bite me for ending our day on one flush.:D

I have 26 1/2 inch!! Does that count??? Says it right on the barrel!!!

If I was doing a lot of blocking. I would go with a nice O/U with 32" barrels.

If doing a lot of walking. It would be 28" barrels

A person has to remember, today with extended tubes. You can add near 2" to a gun just by adding extended choke tubes. It doesn't add quite the weight to the swing that true longer barrels would give but it still does add to the guns over all length.

28 inch autoloader here. if I was going to use and over and under I would choose a lighter weight 28" model.

They all work if . . .

26" in doubles AND semi-autos, but I primarily use doubles.
