F150

Apple and oranges I’m sure. But my nephew has a ford ranger hybrid. Here in Kansas in the flatlands he says being a hybrid doesn’t really do much for fuel mileage on the highway. He took it on vacation in Colorado this summer. , where all that up and down keeps it charged. He said his fuel mileage was close to double.

Been there done that except not in MT. 12 mpg with slight tailwind, dry roads. and no ac.

Could be, the biggest hills I saw weren't jack crap. If you wanted to ski you would need a tall snow fence.

My wife drives a Rav4 Hyrbid and the mileage this time of year is not very good due to it using more engine/gasoline instead of EV power. In the warmer months, it gets close to 40 mpg and 600 miles/tank. Right now its down to 33 mpg and under 500 miles per tank. Its been cold here.

I drive a Ford Ranger (gasoline) but I used to drive a 2014 F-150 with the 5.0L V8. Thing got the same mileage all the time. City, highway, towing, etc. It was always 17 mpg. I liked that truck but it was a tank. I really had no reason to be driving a full size truck. Takes up too much space in my garage and it was a biotch to park. The Ranger does everything the F150 could do that I need it to do, with a smaller footprint and better mileage.
 
I'm on the fence. I have a 2021 Tundra (last year of the V8) with 50k on it that I was forced to get during covid and the chip shortage. It is a nice truck and will likely last 2/3/400k miles. It is the crew max with the 5.5' bed and TRD package. No real 'tech' inside. No heated seats, minimal technology, 12-14 mpg. I got a 1.0% interest rate and only owe $20k on it now. I hate the small bed and would like more tech...

Debating on putting a MX (mid rise) topper on it for more storage with a decked and just living with it or selling for a new F150 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost. Tons of tech in these....heated seats, 360 camera, 6.5 foot bed, 20 mpg...the list goes on. They're getting $55+K for these now though and interest rates of 5%+. I know the toyota reputation and it has been 100% trouble free. I'd sell by owner and likely have ~20k for a down payment on the F150.

I keep going back and forth....put the top on the Toyota or get the F150 and still put a top on it but with the longer bed.

Went and drove an F150 with the little 2.7 and was really impressed. I have had it for 2 years and really love it. Doubled my gas mileage. Doubt it will be as reliable as my Tundra but so. Far, so good.

I think I have read the new Tundra is having issues with the turbos.

That 2021 is the last year of the best half ton ever made. Be a shame to sell for a f150.
