Ethanol Subsidies Ends

Guess what Monsanto is already doing tests on drought tolerant corn--this I know because the guy that leases some of our land let them do a 5 acre plot on our land last year:eek:--we were not amused at all and reminded him to read his lease about sub-leasing. As far as I'm concerened that strikes 1 and 2.:mad: Chris you may have noticed it as it was in the field due west of the marine dealership along hiway 44 and had a look of tall corn in the middle of a bean field and a solar powered weather station and even and porta pottie.
 
Drought Tolerant corn is not going to allow pivots to be shut off or more arid land to grow corn. NK has some hybrids that they are working with that have a natural gene for drought tolerance. My understand of Monsanto's gene is from a Monsanto breeder I talked to three years ago. It is GMO and what it does is working within the plant it limits evapotransporation and allow the corn plant to withstand 3-4 weeks with little to no rain without effecting yield greatly. The Breeder himself said it would not allow NE to turn off it's pivots. Also the last I heard it was going to be priced possible by the county that it is planted in. The lower avg rainfull the county has, the more they are going to charge for it. Monsanto is a master marketer and their marketing department doesn't always agree with their science department.

They have been having trials for atleast the last four years.

Jim, I drive by there quite a bit and always notice the marine dealer but did not see the test plot.
