went out yesterday after some hen points/backs saying I'd be happy with a rooster

same thing today-

had trackers on 3- the old lady did pretty good even the second day- took a picture when we got to the vehicle- happy to say enough-

young male was 2nd longest 2nd average speed today- 33.8 miles 8.48mph
took quite a few pictures- we had quite a few hen points- we caught them out feeding- we caught them out in a pasture type sort of- was something- some times I'd have them all locked up together- sometimes 3, sometimes 2, sometimes 1- we covered some ground-

sometimes I think there is an advantage in that pheasants move arround quite a bit

Sometimes I think those single bird days are some of the best. You work hard for your reward on those days.

Shadow that looks like a fun day.
I think having multiple dogs down on running pheasants is the way to go. I suspect the birds have more trouble deciding where to run when the dogs are all spread out. So they end up getting pinned by the dogs more often.

great pics. i'm waiting for the wind to die down this PM and chase some quail.

how are these dogs related? I thought you had parents and one pup...?

decided to keep 2 pups of the litter- first time for me- first year I had second thoughts- whew- was a handfull- decided to take them out for a run- they were waiting- quite something- from the start I let them run as they wished- even at this age they had seperate patterns- yet wanted to know the others were around- still do

it was- there was a time I wished I only had one down- the pheasants were feeding or something- point, pheasant would get up behind, Britt's would cover ground- open up- come back- 3-4 on point spread out aways made for exciting times- had to really decide which to go to first- pheasants were jumpy- but some would hide- I tried to peek in and see them- amazing they can hide when locked up on and you know right where they are- but you can't see them-

interesting fact was that we caught them out in the field- and after an hour or so we caught them back out in the field- course it helped that the field was 1/2 mile by mile:)

Beautiful dogs, that shadow dog looks a lot like my male springer. Built like a 40lb brick shit house, pure muscle and no quit in him.

thanks- he's lean- 48lbs- trying out a hydration pack soon as it's dry out here- wonder if after a 1/2 hour and the Garmin how his wheels will be compared to her

going to be meeting my California brother in Feb for a ski in Crested Butte- will discuss heading out for a visit next fall-

Quail season runs from the 3rd weekend of October through the last weekend of January with 6 weeks of pheasant season starting second weekend of November.

very good possibility- plus- brother said the skiing is great not to far away- hunt and ski- that would be a blast- would need to really get into some decent condition

one corner had this stuff- what surprised me was it seemed the pheasants were using it- maybe as a coridor- or just plain caught there- Lizzi had the point- I got real close to see if it was a pheasant or what- she was locked- steped back and took another picture- came in watching her eyes- rooster came real close- surprised me- hit it pretty good with 7 shot right arround 25 yards- bit later 5 or so more points and backs- heck- I was thinking she'd pinned this one and there weren't any others- this is where I thought it would have been better to just have one Britt- maybe:D

weird spot- you really couldn't see the 4 of them as they zipped arround- but that good ole BEEP
