I put 2 cans whole potatoes in crock pot, drained; layered 3.25 lbs country style ribs on top; covered ribs with 2 cans of Bavarian sauerkraut; sliced one large sweet onion and sprinkled that everywhere; drizzled bbcue sauce over everything…275, probably for 5 hours? I’m using Dutch oven…

It improves it as far as what odor I bring to the room…no, I don’t notice it…the Bavarian kraut may not be as noticeable…make it now, see what you think…I’ve been snacking all day, very good!

Make ahead and reheat in microwave…same with chili…sloppy Joe’s…etc…I don’t cook in motel rooms, I enjoy going out if there are cafe’s, bars that serve food, etc…I have a kitchen in my regular haunts…but I used to stay in motels with some regularity…pizza is always a favorite ❤️

The last time $100 in South dakota, did not even have a cafe. There was no place to get breakfast in the morning. 👎👎

Cafes in the Dakotas have been challenged greatly finding anyone to work post-covid ... albeit the Dakota's did not shutdown much for Covid. I would say that at at least 50% of the cafes in Western MN and 80% of the cafes in ND pheasant country are closed or operate on very limited hours ... like 7AM - 1PM each day. Maybe a few super clubs remain along busier roads or towns of say 1500+ people.

The second challenge is all of the Cenex and Casey's that now have pizza, sandwiches, etc... It has shifted too much business away from the family run cafe. Go into a Cenex or Casey's at dinner time in a small town and watch for a minute how many pizzas they sell on take out to small town families and farm families. Dominos could only do so well.

I have to try this for sure…..however it may be in a more spacious area. My mother made roast pork sauerkraut and dumplings…my mouth still waters for that.
