Dog Overdosed

I was gone over the weekend and some some friends watch my two GSP's and my old Lab (yep still alive thanks to Deramaxx and Flex 2500). While my buds were in my pool, one of my GSP's snuck in and found the Derramxx and preceded to eat the bottle and tablets...all 11 of them. Panic stricken, my friend calls me. After a couple of turkey basters full of hydrogen peroxide, presto, there lay most of the bottle and pills. He still digested several so we will watch him. I'm a little worried about the remaining plastic floating around but will just have to wait and see. Wish me luck!

yikes- but- I've had my bird dogs eat things that would kill a human

think positive- our bird dogs although pampered- are quite tough-
good luck and best wishes for your fellow companion- sir!

Good luck, jmc . . . hopefully all will be fine.

All seems fine with the two dopeheads...they are now on Prilosec for a week to help prevent ulcers and then bloodwork on the liver and kidneys. All in all, I'll be out some cash because my dogs got stoned...:p

Good canine first aid information. Thank you and a speedy recovery to your dog.

Speaking of Deramaxx! How well does it work with your dog. I have a female black lab that has arthritis and limps alot on her back right leg. The Vet recommended Deramaxx. It's expensive. She then said if I started giving her Deramaxx, they would need to do blood work to make sure it's not hurting her kidneys/liver, etc.......

I've got to get her on something that eases her pain a little, especially when I'll be taking her pheasant hunting, just like every other year. She's 8 1/2 years old now.

We went through the kidney/liver bloodwork before going to Deramaxx. As for Jake, it has worked wonders. He not only can get up on his own, but now he actually trots to the food bowl. He still tires quickly and can't walk long but seems to be pain free. We also give him Flex2500 Soft Chews (5/day, he weighs 110#s). You can get them online. Both the Deramaxx and Flex were suggested by our vet. Good luck with your lab.

Here is a pic of Big Jake with the two dopers...Ike (liver) is the culprit who stole the drugs.

Dakota had the bloodwork at our Annual Vet visit. The Vet then said she would need bloodwork after we put her on Deramaxx also, to make sure it wasn't hurting her liver/kidneys. I guess some dogs can react very badly to the deramaxx, so that's why they run more bloodwork after she would go on the Deramaxx. I haven't put her on the Deramaxx yet. I'm thinking I definately need to, something to ease the pain, and help her get around better. I wouldn't give it to her daily, just as needed.

Oh man I hope he's doing great. You have gorgeous dogs. At our house Gunther, my GSP would be the culprit to try to take out my labs....Ike looks like one serious dude! I wouldn't want to mess with him either...lol!
