Dog Booties

not familiar with any with traction but most serious guys use dogbooties.com
They use a stretchable velcro that flexes and holds well.
Theres also a procedure to secure them to your dog utilizing vet wrap, ductape and the booties.

If its good enough for the dog mushers its good enough for me.

Lewis Rubber Dog Boots are suppose to be the best.

Wrap the dogs leg, where the boot contacts the leg and a little above, with Vet Wrap. Then put on the boot and Duck Tape the boot to the leg. The Vet Wrap keeps the boot from rubbing on the dog's leg.

If you do lose one you can buy them in singles. The boots may require a little trimming on the back side so the boot remains below the pad on the back of the leg.

I have the Lewis now, and they are really tough to get on. I was hoping something with velcro straps would be easier to get on.

The Velcro ones are easier but they wear out quicker to me it's not worth the spending $45.00 thats my 2cents

$45? The ones I posted above are $2.50 per foot
although they do charge a bit too much for shipping so keep that in mind when ordering-order extras

I was looking at the cabelas website and I have a couple of friends in Iowa that use them thats all.

+1 on Dogbooties.com.
I ran them on my GSP's and Welshie hunting grouse this fall in Western NE. 1 pair lasted the two weeks I was there. I use the 330 weight cordura with the velstretch stuff. Works amazing.
I just put them on, no vet wrap and have never had any problems wearing the dogs legs. The 330 weight turn all but the sharpest stickers and thorns and really saves the dogs feet.
When the velstretch stuff gets worn I put a wrap of gorilla tape on top of the strap and that seems to keep them on.
Last year I bought the medium size, this year I ordered small, they fit my dogs better.
Last year I ordered a neutral color and they were hard to see when the dog was running. This year I ordered orange and you can see them from quite aways off.
I have tried other boots and the next best thing has been bicycle inner tubes but these are much easier to use.
I think the price is right as well, $10 for a dog is cheap, some of the others have been $40 a dog and you are SOL if you lose one.
I usually carry a couple of spares in my vest but I've only lost one so far!!:)

Check out this guy: http://www.jimsdogboots.com/

He lives in Denton and you can just go to his house to buy the boots. I bought a couple sets of boots from him back in early November and my dogs haven't thrown one yet. Probably used them 5 or 6 times total and they're still holding up great. Best part is that you can take your dog with you to try them on to make sure you get a good fit.

What kind of dog do you have?

Don't get the Avery neoprene model! I threw a new pair on the pup yesterday because the snow here in Colorado was pretty crusty and she trashed them in about 2 hours. The bottoms (some type of cheap rubber) are only glued to the neoprene uppers. I thought I'd get a little bit better quality for $20.

booties

I tried booties on two of my French Britts.
After the high stepping ended & the hunting started
they both tore them off their feet b4 a half hour was up.
Not fell off, dogs tore them off. Maybe they were put on wrong or something.
I have not tried again.

I have both; the Lewis Dog Boots and Jim's...I like the Lewis a little better in the rough flint areas around the lake when hunting quail. I use the Jim's booties for ice. I've lost one Jim's but no Lewis.
