Combines Rolling ?

Any updates on whether the combines are rolling particularly in Miner, Sanborn counties? i'm starting to see some crops in Northern Illinois coming out in pockets.
 
Combine are rolling, beans and some corn. Sound like rain and then a frost. That will be a good thing.
 
eastern SD has got to be alot similar to extreme western MN??? in MN 75%-85% of beans out 20%-30% corn off at best real slow for the corn guess the hard freeze n temps will let the combines hit that hard the next few days??? looks sunny & cold the next wk or so??? but chance of snow what the hell??? the year with no spring or fall went from winter to summer summer back to winter!!!
 
Rode in a combine yesterday with operator getting 23% moisture. Other farmers will not take it out until it is down to 20% where they can bin air dry it.

Farmer said there ain't enough dryers around to dry all the corn we got.

This weather is not going to dry things very fast. Ground and roads are greasy.

wow, 23%.....damn, that's high!:eek:
 
Nobody's out in fields for several days now. Too boggy. More snow this morning. Out yesterday and field roads unpassable. Even some gravel roads bad. Over 7 in rain/snow past 5 weeks. Ditches full of water and CRP fields really wet. 75% beans harvested in state, less in James River Valley. Only 31% corn in statewide. Gonna be a few more weeks. More rain in forecast for next Mon-Tue.
 
with more precipitation, could be close to Thanksgiving before most of the crops are off...at least we are building some subsoil moisture to support growth next spring.
 
Chris you do know that you get the most corn harvested at 24% moisture after that point hidden field loss is REAL . Need more bin/dryer salesmen in SD . hehehe

Running all your corn through a bin dryer is a pain in the ass. Mid 20 is fine if you have a continuos flow dryer and propane is cheap. Filling a dryer bin and waiting 5 days for you corn to dry and transferring it to another bin will kill your productivity.
 
Drove over from Platte to Mitchell yesterday (70 miles) and the combines were hard at it doing mostly corn--did notice several fields of beans still standing--several more days of good weather on tap so I'm sure they will be at it hard.:D
 
I just left Miner County on Thursday and they had a lot of corn left in the fields. On the land I hunted most if not all of the beans were out, but a very small percentage of corn has been removed. Still saw lots of birds and was happy with the hunting. Might go back later this year (December).
 
I was central and most beans are gone. The fields looked pretty dry and they were going like Hell. Still most of the corn is up and I imagine will be until mid to late December.
 
Combines rolling last Friday and Saturday in Jones Co. But I think the area may gotten more rain.
