Colt Python

I've wanted a Python ever since high school. A buddy of mine and I were going to buy them in 1976. He got his, I got nothing. (Too expensive for me back then). Well, now I'm in a better situation, and have been looking for one again.

I found 6 inch stainless steel in near perfect condition for 1200. I emailed the seller.. She said USPS money order, I could come pick it up or she could ship it. (Red Flag).. Hope to read from you soon. (Red flag 2).

I'm thinking scammer. What say you?

ask for an address to send the funds. Then Google the H out of that address. I'd be hesitant to buy a handgun unseen.

buyer beware

After taking a chance on a Sweet 16 on Armslist, I will never send funds through the mail to a private owner on that site again. I mailed funds to a convicted felon. I called the police in his town of residence and they arrested him for gun involvement as a felon. He was just pasting in the pictures and writing his own ads. I took a chance and got burned. He did not cash the check, but I have to wait 90 days to get my money back because it was a certified check. I did just buy a gun off gunbroker, but it was a gun on consignment from a legitimate gun dealer. I'd be careful. It's a nightmare in the making, in my opinion.

I told her that I would pay the associated costs both ways to have her ship it from a FFL dealer on her end to my vicinity for inspection, if I liked it, I would send funds, if I didn't, I would pay costs to ship it back to her FFL dealer.. We'll see what she says . She has 5 pythons for sale... Is that odd?

She wont budge.. I guess we are at a standoff. Im not willing to send her the money order, and she not willing to send the gun to a FFL for me to look at without payment.. I think Ill pass, unless someones in the Frankfurt Ky area from the board.

colt

I don't blame you. It's just not worth the chance. Once the check is sent, you have no control.

She said you could come get it...at that price, go get it unless it's miles and miles away. If so, send cash to a buddy and let ... oops; better stop there; but you get the point.

About 25 years ago I had a nickle Python with a 6" barrel. I bought it for something like $375.00. One of those things I should have held onto but I loved buying and trading guns. I have had a couple thousand since then I'm sure. Lots of them I still wish I had but a guy can't keep them all. I would only deal with people on a well established firearms site. That have positive feed back.

I ran into one where I bid before realizing the seller had no feed back. The seller worked good with me. He took the gun to a FFL and they shipped and handled the exchange of funds. This way, I knew a gun existed and he got no money until the FFL dealer had the gun in hand.

Good Luck

there's lots of them on gun broker ,the cheapest one was 1500 bucks
the average being closer to 2000.so i guess there's a couple of question:
why is this one cheaper?
the seller doesn't want a licensed dealer to see it?
is it stolen?
it's cheap enough to go see it,but not if she misrepresenting it's condition
off and on ithink about getting a browning double automatic off of a website,
havent tried it yet

Scammer, I'd say.

A buddy of mine has a dealership in Louisville, and said if I got an address from her.,. He'd have one of his route guys go check it out for me. Ill see if she has an address and a phone number shes willing to give out..

As stated (and I own a couple Pythons), that's a suspiciously low price for a legitimate Python in good condition. If the op refuses to work with you, I'd suggest that you pass. A righteous seller of a product that is in good shape would work with you. You might be running the risk of NOT getting your Python while losing your money, or you may end up with a disappointing piece. A junk Python is just that . . . junk. My 2-cents.

She says I can come to Kentucky and pick it up... with payment, Didnt offer name, address or phone number, even though I requested it.

Look at it this way. If that Python is legit and the price is $1,200 it wouldn't have lasted as long as this thread has been going on. No way you can buy a decent Python for that kind of money. I'd run away if I was you.

Back on the hunt..:)

Found one in corpus Christie tx. Ad says it's a 4 inch when the picture clearly shows it to be a 6 inch. I've requested more pictures and a clarification of whether the picture is an actual picture of the piece. Price is more in line with market. Guy says he is an FFL dealer.

Is it proper to ask him his FFL license information?..

Address?

Anything else ?

A local pawn shop owner had two 6" Pythons on his table at a recent gun show here in SD, and both were priced at $2500. They were both LNIB, but for that price didn't get any takers.....

Well, he eventually would have to provide his FFL info to someone in your area, so why not ask?
