Colt Python

Absolutely amazing what they bring these days..

I'm afraid I cannot afford anything that is on the auction sites at this time.

Python

Why did Colt stop producing them? Seems like a lot of money for a revolver.

Business decision -- high production cost & lower interest = Colt losing money is the reason I believe to be true. There is a litany of theories why they quit, but the Python is a very fine-shooting wheel gun. I wish I could find an Anaconda (especially since that's the name of my home town, lol.).

A local pawn shop owner had two 6" Pythons on his table at a recent gun show here in SD, and both were priced at $2500. They were both LNIB, but for that price didn't get any takers.....

I called 6 shops in Sioux Falls. When you say local, where abouts were you talking..

Well, there was a local auction near here today that had a full selection of "Snake" guns on it. The auction wasn't tied to the internet in any way, so I took the day off and attended. There were aprox 250 bidders, and the 6inch stainless was the first of the Colts to hit the block. It got to about 1200 and slowed a little so I got in. Me and another guy traded $50 bids till he finally subsided and I got it for 2300. Not really what I wanted to spend, but I guess I don't have to search the net anymore either, the 44 Anaconda went for 1450. A second 6 inch Python in blued went for 1550. And a 6 inch Diamond Back 22 went for 1650.

My wife was pretty happy I got a 6inch stainless for 2300. Happy wife, happy life!

I also took a NIB Remington Wingmaster 870 in 28 guage with the enhanced action. (Engraved) to $700. It sold for 850. Wow

I'm not real familiar with Python variations. My father-in-law has one in like new condition that's nickel plated. Is there also a stainless steel version, or is yours the nickel plated?
