Bucks starting some antlers

I have never been much on deer hunting, or paying that much attention to them for that matter.

But I have a game camera out on my place and it is interesting to see what is running around on the place.

Anyway what do you think this guy is going to be this fall?

Here is some of the rest of the group he is running around with.

Dinner if he keeps hanging around your place with the success you seem to be having there:) It's difficult to say just yet as he will grow exponentially over the coming month provided he gets proper nutrition. Keep an eye on him and maybe you might take up deer hunting too.

Hard to tell, but it's exciting to see them.

I've never been much of a deer hunter, and I guess I'm still not... but it does get you excited to see pictures of deer on your land. I've got a bunch that look similar to yours at this point. I can't wait to see what they look like by bow season!

Not that it has changed the way I hunt any. I still just tag the first fat doe that comes along.

I don't know that I will get into deer hunting. I am sure it is fun, but looks like a lot of work after you shoot something. ;) at least compared to a quail or pheasant.

We do see tracks from one that is pretty big and heavy. His tracks are as wide as my hand. Not sure that I have seen him on the game camera, as the tracks are all away from my camera locations.

I have not heard or seen anything of the quail that last few weeks. I am sure they are around.

hunting stuff

i'm kinda like the dogs, if ya can't hunt one thing find something else to hunt, but hunt, i have seen really good dogs that after 5 hours of hunting and not getting a whiff of anything, a mouse becomes pretty exciting, hard to get them to flush though

cheers

horns

looks like pretty heavy bases on that guy

that's what i thought. been seeing quite a few buck turkey hunting mostly mule deer type. some days they hate the blind and some days they pay no attention to it regardless of the wind it seems. whitetail seems the jumpiest, heck, some days the turkey ignore them and sometimes they don't

cheers

Not really, especially when it's your own land. I usually use a deer cart to wheel out my deer, but I think I dragged last year's to the trail and then pulled it to the truck with the UTV. A basic field dress only takes a few minutes...

From your pictures, it looks like your land is a lot more open and accessible than most of mine. You could probably drive your truck right up to the deer I would imagine...

If you were going to fully butcher and process the whole thing yourself it would be more work, but I barely break a sweat driving mine over to GTB in Riley.:D I'm pretty precise about how I field dress my deer, so I usually don't even get my clothes dirty...

I don't know if I'll ever truly be a die-hard deer hunter, but it is kinda fun, and the meat is delicious. I'm kind of like Musti in that I hunt what is available...

Had a new game camera pics of bucks.

Not sure what I am seeing in this photo, but looks like a good start on a rack.

It looks like it could be the same deer in all the pics, just different angles and light exposures. But I could be wrong...

I need to get my camera back up at my place. There are some pretty hefty tracks on my trails, but I haven't seen the guy making them.

The first two pictures are copies, and yes, they are the same deer. Not so sure about the night time picture.Hard to tell. What I saw,in the last picture, was how wide his rack is starting. If there are the proper minerals around, this guy might be a real dandy,in a year or two.
