Brown vs Yellow WIHA?

What is the difference other than the date you can access it? Since the brown is earlier, does that typically mean is more likely CRP or pasture, while the yellow is probably active row crop land? Am I reading too much into it?

Never paid attention to it to closely. But I dont think it really matters. We have an early praire chicken season, early dove season, bow deer season, turkeys, etc, etc. so anything can be found in the early walk-in properties

My experience is that all WIHA areas need to be evaluated by sight. The access dates are at the discretion of the landowner in the terms of the lease, and may have something to do with normal farming activity on the property. Reality is because of the variety of properties embraced by the program, some suited more for turkey and deer, for instance, a great deal of personal recon is the only reliable indicator.

I hear ya, just trying to see if there was anything to it. Buddy and I are gonna try for a scouting/hunting trip sometime next month for a few days.

I agree with the others. Other than dates of access, brown versus yellow doesn't mean a thing. What area are you planning to hunt?

Luck of the draw...

Not sure yet; but done about as much HW as I can without getting boots on the ground. Probably going to write down these towns each on their own piece of paper, put them all in a bag, shake it up, and draw the winner:

Wakeeney, Osborne, Ness City, Oberlin

They all sound like winners to me. Good luck to ya.
