Best Roto Molded Kennel

I ended up purchasing a Cabelas Gun Dog intermediate kennel after I looked at Gunner, RuffLand and Dakota. The intermediate is tall enough for my GSP and it has a 5 star crash rating. The key lock on the door is a joke but the door is solid and the latch seems to work well. If fits behind the seats of my F-150 and Ram 1500 but it also comes with tie down straps for carrying it in the back of the truck which I will never do. It is actually made from thicker material than my RuffLand intermediate kennel. Now I’m looking for a good kennel pad.
I have a momarsh cot that fits in the Cabela's intermediate perfectly. If your dog is wet, it drains the water away and keeps the dog out of the water as well. You can also use it for place training. I also had an insulated pad from fleet farm that fit in perfectly as well, but the dog chewed it up when she was a puppy and I never replaced it. I believe it was made by arctic shield. It was dark green in color.

Curious how this kennel has treated you (and your pup) since you have had some time running it? I am currently deciding between the cabelas gun dog and the dakota. How big is your gsp? I have a gsp and am not sure between a large and intermediate.

My griff is 50 lbs and I use a momarsh cot in the kennel and she fits in there perfectly. The Cabelas kennel tapers from the bottom to the top which is essential for getting the kennel in the back of my truck behind the passenger seat. I would definitely buy the kennel again. I believe Cabelas came out with a bigger size kennel this last year. If you live close to a Bass Pro or Cabelas, they have them on display...you could take your dog in and try them out.

My GSP is 60 pounds and she fits fine! I have that Momarsh suspension bed in there as well. I like it fine. My dog is comfortable and warm in the cab. I have it behind my seat in my F-150 Dog likes it but she would rather be in the front seat beside me but that’s not always an option!😊
I’ve heard reports the door rattles but that hasn’t been an issue with mine, maybe they fixed that.
It’s bigger than a Ruffland intermediate and it’s built just as well or better plus it comes with tie down straps and a locking rod. I’m tall but it fits behind my seat with the seat all of the way back. I’d buy again if I needed one that big again.

Appreciate the info!

I have an aluminum kennel but god for bid the day happens to the two I have I will sell it and get a Gunner or Lucky duck.

My reasoning is this. A I wont need a two bay kennel anymore. B I like the accessories on both (similar although I give the edge to gunner). C and this is my biggest reason I like the gunner and lucky duck is I think the door design is the best out of all of them.

Reality is though any of the ones on your list will be fine most likely. I just really like the locking doors on the gunner and lucky duck just seems more secure. The other reality is assuming you order the right size you will never have to buy another travel crate again!

I have a large Dakota 283 for a shorthair and an intermediate Ruffland for a wirehair. Both are really nice. Ruffland is much lighter and easier to take in-out of the back of the truck. Dakota is nice because it locks and provides more protection in the event of an accident.

My Dakota is 3 years old and I have never had an issue with the dogs chewing on any part of it or getting a foot stuck. I hunt my dogs separate and will often use the Dakota to lock the dog that doesn't get to run, just provides me with a touch more piece of mind when I am away from the truck. If I had to choose, I would vote for the Dakota, more pros with them over the ruffland.
