Are you better at sporting clays or wild birds?

Sporting clay's are easier for me: I can pre-mount, know where the bird is coming from, no wind, feet well balanced/positioned.
and no heavy bulky clothes. A lot more variables when hunting and shooting pheasants especially in the winter.
 
I’ve shot clays of course but not really. Idk the rules or what’s good or bad. Is it like golf? Lower score better? Or opposite? Prolly shot more pigeons than anything else. As kids we had a circuit of barns/silos and would throw rocks or send someone up in the mow to flush em out. Imagine 3 boys in cut off jeans no shirts shotguns strapped to handle bars or slung over the shoulder riding down a back road today! Lords of the Plains
 
Skeet and trap are way easier then wild birds, gun is mounted and you know where they are coming from and going. Sporting Clays on a new course would be more difficult unless you ask to see a bird at every station, on SC course I start with a low gun which adds to the challenge. Roosters over points is like shooting a beach ball as they flush further out they become more of a challenge depending on winds. As someone mentioned run same comparison on grouse and woodcock, the clays are way easier!

I will throw this out to everyone, including goose, if you are ever in central OH I have a membership at Cardinal Shooting center. I will host and pay for the clays for anyone that wants to shoot a round or two as long as I can make it work in my schedule which shouldn’t be too hard. Through supporting some non profits I have more pre paid for targets then I can shoot so would be glad to do so. But no grab ass or wanker stuff(whatever the hell that is???). Gotta draw the line someplace. 😂

Not me! I do shoot the easy courses, but spend a lot more time on the difficult ones. I always shoot low gun because it more resembles hunting and feel I shoot better that way. There's just something about the clattering wings and that "F U!" cackle, all coming at the least expected times that can throw me for a loop! When hunting is tough and I know after driving, walking, and the dog working her tail off all day here's my one chance to make it all worthwhile, the pressure in my head turns up to 11. Thankfully I've been getting better, and have also realized me and the dog think it's always worthwhile to go hunting even after a miss.

P.S. I do shoot trap because it's available very close by. But I prefer sporting. Gonna try and shoot some solo skeet low-gun this coming spring.
