Are we there yet?

Yes, a snail's pace. My guys thought something was terribly wrong this morning or someone was in trouble b/c I was here a couple hours early today. I just couldn't sleep. Woke up thinking I was in the CRP, I remember trying to make a decision about what to hunt next. Then I just couldn't sleep anymore so I came in. Can't seem to give the extra effort right now so I'll give the company some extra time I guess. Usually I've shut down and all but quit doing my job. Interestingly enough I've found that staying busy helps pass the time......staying busy on this forum:D

The weather forecast keeps indicating a higher chance of precipitation for the area we'll be in. Looking purdy damn good in fact!

and I'm getting nothing done at work...

If the birds are there, this could be a dandy.

I'm confident they'll be there. Sometimes the locals don't realize how many birds there are b/c they don't make it a point to drive the same routes at the "right" time of the day, so one year they see loads b/c they're driving during graveling time or they catch them headed to roost. The next year they're out while the birds are in the feed or whatever (mid-afternoon), but think since it is the same time of year, they should've seen as many as they did last year at this time. I know that's kinda windy but I think you know what I mean. Dad told me earlier this year there weren't any birds out his way. He called the other night and basically said, "there might be more out here than I thought";).

This is the longest week ever. I too have been at work two hours early not only because of the time change but because I just can't wait to get going. I've gone through my opening day check list every night this week and packed the truck on monday night. This week can't go by fast enough. The weather forecast ins't helping at all with the anticipation.

I'm definitley struggling right now, I have the next 6 days off from work, but I have a class on Friday and everything is already packed! Now I'm trying to find things to keep me busy so the next 2 days don't go by like a snail! lol

I'm done

Called the boss this morning and admitted " I'm done...my mind is not on work now" He said me too. He is a big duck hunter and his opener is saturday in LA. He is even skipping out before me!!!! I told him I am busy making deer jerky and getting dogs preped and gear loaded.. Oh Yeah .. also my 13yr old wants to go now so I am on a quest to outfit him for his first wild bird hunt. Waitin to say the words "Load'em Up!"

Kick'em Up!

Nearly here!

I know what you mean guys. I too have mentally checked out at work this week. I'm off Friday through next Friday, cant wait!

Yeah also checked out of work about a week ago. I have the rest of the week off, I am heading up that way tomorrow, it sure has been a long 9 months. Good Luck everyone and post pictures.

time is def. moving slow now, im not sure i can make it class the rest of the week, might leave for class and make a detour the wrong direction for a day and do some scouthing :)

I got an e-mail from the home office yesterday letting me know we were having a conference call Friday at 4:00 PM, my response was, "I hope I get cell coverage in Western Kansas". They also scheduled a Holiday Party on the opening weekend of the deer hunt???? Who are these people???

I'm cutting out of work early at 3 on Friday afternoon, hopefully on the road by 4, which will put us in the hotel about 9:30 or 10 depending on how much stopping.

Our company Christmas party is always during deer season. I've missed more parties than I've attended.

I am already in Pheasant Country. Just sucking up Starbucks coffee and doing a little scouting. Should be plenty of birds for everyone.

Im not necessarly checked out yet but I got very jittery on Monday. Like I am having withdraws. Ive been going to my wifes uncle CSA every weekend to keep me busy but this week has killed me. I may go duck hunting tommorow so that should help with the time but I have teachers in-service on Friday. That will be a bad day. I will not be able to sleep Friday night!!!!

I am with ya. Time is just creeping. We are leaving Friday and heading out around noon. should be there are 3 to do a little scouting before dark.

I've watched nearly every pheasant hunting video there is on Youtube. They need some new ones on there.

How many of you have someone taking video of your hunts?

No video here but there have been several times I wish we had and a couple when I am glad there wasn't

Video

I actually have one of the video camera mounts that fits on my SBE. It works good when turkey hunting. I have never tried it while rooster hunting, but I may this weekend. I do find it hard to video when I can be shootin. I can video tape in Feb!

KB you want to volunteer to be my video guy when I go pro!!!
