Anyone Out Hunting Today?

I'm just wondering if anyone is out in the snow, cold and wind today around the state and how you are doing. I'm almost starting to wonder if the season might not be over unless we get some really warm weather, which doesn't appear to be in the forecast.

Season is just getting started IMO Zeb. My guys here at my farm just finished up a 3 day hunt and limited out the last day in the snow and posted a 2.5 bird per person average for 3 days and 7 hunters.

This nasty weather is not allowing birds to linger in cut corn but bringing them into standing food plots, tree belts and warm season grass.

thursday-sat were ok....saturday was awesome! first snow of the year...about 5", soft, not too windy...birds held great...thur/fri weren't bad...overall, hunting was really good....coming back out on wed of this week...warming up this weekend...we're in the 5th inning right now!

I guess in my old age I'm turning into a wuss. I don't enjoy going out in this kind of weather any more. Still hope get out a few more times but I'll be picking my days carefully. Maybe you can say that I'm just a "Fair Weather Hunter". :)

I live in MN and hunt in MN and SD. MN pheasant hunting can be trying especially early. Last December was cold and snowy, even worse than what we are having right now. But in western MN public areas that had thick cover and especially if it had some sort of standing food plot, the birds were there. My GSP and I had a good couple of days and came out with 3 roosters and unfortunately a couple lost birds in extremely thick cattails. I have to put a neoprene vest on my dog in that kind of weather to keep him warm. I plan to do this again this year, but it may be after Dec 20 which is my daughter's wedding since I have already been to SD, NM, and CO for big game this year, and going back to SD again for deer, so I have to keep from getting in the dog house at home.

It was rough yesterday. Buddy & I just went out for 30 minutes and hunted shelterbelt across from house. Got 3 birds and missed two more. Then back in recliner! After 60, can't handle that cold wind anymore.

Hey Tony, I've been going to call you but just haven't gotten it done. If the weather changes for the better and you want to get out for a day let me know.

Sorry I missed you this year George, but I'm getting out of this cold and heading to Pensacola in next day or two. Just wrapping things up for the winter before we head south. Ready for some 70's! Will catch you next season.
