A Hunter's Pledge (courtesy of the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife & Parks):

Responsible hunting provides unique challenges and rewards. However, the future of the sport depends on each hunter's behavior and ethics. Therefore, as a hunter, I pledge to . . .

* Respect the environment and wildlife.
* Respect property and landowners.
* Show consideration for nonhunters.
* Hunt safely.
* Know and obey the law.
* Support wildlife and habitat conservation.
* Pass on an ethical hunting tradition.
* Strive to improve my outdoor skills and understanding of wildlife.
* Hunt only with ethical hunters.

Bc,

Well put sir, I hope you and everyone on this sight has a safe and enjoyable season.:cheers:

I'm going to write this down and put it with my hunting stuff. To remind myself of the responsibility to the people around me, myself and the game i maybe after.

I concur, those are good common sense rules to hunt by. If only all the hunters out there would abide by them............Bob

A Hunters Pledge

Excellent set of guidelines. I'm going to pass this on to our Youngsters at the Hunter Education Classes. Kudos.

Excellent thing to follow. FCS, it may be common sense, but that seems to be one of the things lacking these days in a lot of people. Not trying to start anything with anybody or anything, just stating things I see in my job and interactions.

BritChaser, wonderful post. This stuff seems like sommon sense but unfortunately common sense ain't so common. I can't help but tink that if everyone abided by this code there would be no land access issues.

Thx for the reminder BritChaser (can never say/repeat it too much)! :thumbsup:
I have gone out of my way to personally abide & also instill the basics in a lot of youngsters.

I know many fine hunters who live by this code, but it is heartbreaking just how many I have run across over the years who do not (ESPECIALLY rule #3)...UGUIDE is right, the bad taste from some of these knuckleheads has cost me & everyone else behind them more denial of land access on some "Farmer Joe's" properties than I can shake a stick at! :mad:

& SAFETY trumps everything...I like meeting new people, but break that rule & it's a one-day stand, over-&-out with me!!! :eek:

The only thing worse then a rude hunter is when you encounter a group of them. They seem to get even more rude when in numbers.

But then again I have met many more good guys then rude guys while afield. :)
