2024 opener

This will be my 30th year hunting SD, started when I was 13 going with my dad and uncle. My dad passed 11 years ago and I will always carry on the tradition of SD trips, now I go with a couple good friends that share the same passion for upland hunting as I do.

Not sure how many of you are planning to hunt on Sunday, but it looks quite warm. Near 80 in eastern SD. Keep an eye on your 4 legged friends. Don't run them into the ground in that heat.

My first year hunting SD. Hopefully, I will get a chance to come back. 20 hr ride.
Last year was my first year, 22hr drive. Going back this year and fully intend it to be a yearly tradition that I’ll pass on to my sons when they’re old enough. Also drew a waterfowl license those year so me and the dog are going to be spent but can wait to hear out there the first week of November

Not according to the USDA report. That indicates 43% harvested as of yesterday and only 1 day ahead of where it was last year at this time. Soybeans are 9 days ahead of last year though.

Whoever wrote that report should have called me. I would have told that city-slicker to drive around blue earth, wantonwan, Nicollet, brown, and cottonwood counties in MN. The corn was knocked down like a bowling 🎳 pin! I saw a few fields 20% out Saturday and completely gone on Sunday AM! With these massive combines and spotlights the farmers go all night. That report isn't accurate 5 hours after it's published.

It must be all those "northern" farmers where you hunt gim that are holding up the statewide harvest😂.
