2024 gear review...what worked and what didn't?

I bought a pair of Filson Tin Cloth pants (no finish) from Sierra Trading for $49. LOVE THEM!

I could wax them if I wanted but I don't want to, at least not yet. Nothing gets through them and not being waxed they are much more flexible.

Did you buy the Tech version?
Yes, I did buy the tech version. I hunt areas that if you wear a regular cotton shirt or hoodie you might as well throw it away when the day ends because you might never get all the burs and burdock out again. My wife really, really hates finding a burdock or a sandbur in her underwear after sharing a washing machine with my hunting clothes.........I mean really really hates it.. This has completely stopped that from happening.

Boy do I understand that comment. The few times it happened I blamed it on the dogs...it didn't work!

Things that worked:
My Rizzini Aurum Light 20 ga
Remington Express XLR 20 ga #6's ammo
WingWorks vest
Garmin Pro 70 dog collars
Ray Ban Meta sunglasses. These have allowed me to take awesome videos of my dogs without getting out my cellphone. They were expensive but I got them as a gift and they are cool.
Hevi-Shot Upland Heavy Hammer 3" 20 ga ammo for my wife. Only shells she used in SD so I didn't have to worry about her having lead in her vest in a non-toxic area. Killed 8 in a row with one shot each.
On-X app on my phone.
Noco GB-70 boost starter
Cell phone holder that mounts in cup holder.
Saddle Guy leather holsters for Garmin Pro 70 transmitter and Garmin 200i
My 3 year GSP Sevee

What didn't work:
Garmin T-5 Mini, had two quit on one day and no customer service on these models.
Garmin Alpha 200i. I like the integrated In-Reach but find it hard to pull data from it.
Marsupial Upland vest. Open top, zipper closed shell pockets are difficult to access and when left open fill detritus from weeds and grasses. Otherwise vest is good.
2014 F-150 with 5.0L V-8, averaged 9.9 mpg for a 1000 mile trip. Ugh!

There are probably others that I might add later.
You should hide a lead shell in her vest LOL

I recently hunted with a guy with a beeper collar on his dog. IMO, they aren't needed hunting on open grassland and prairie....they push wild birds....they have to be hard on dogs hearing and most importantly they annoy the living hell out of me.

Totally agree
They may spook pheasants, but I never noticed any difference with quail. I still have some somewhere. I wouldn't use one now unless I had to, but my, my, weren't they awesome before tracking collars!! A long, long time ago, my brother and I had a litter of drops. I picked the smallest setter looking dog in hopes that he would be a closer dog than his pointer mother. Long story short, sometimes I'd catch a glimpse of him 500 or so yards. He was looking for a new home when they came out with them. I bought the loudest one they made. No tone changes just a steady loud beep. The images of him locked up with the other dogs backing will be burnt into my brain till the day I die! The dogs the regularly hunted with him would follow the beep knowing full well he would find them.

I bought one of these for $30 at a garage sale before season last year. I liked it so much that I bought another one for my Ram this summer. I have always cased my shotguns and now I slip them in the horizontal gun cases. They are protected and secure. I carry leashes, glasses, gloves, camera, binocs, rangefinder and a bunch of other stuff in the pockets at the top.
