    possession thread made me paranoid

In the 27 years that I have hunted in SD, I bet I have been stopped by a CO a dozen times, only in the last 6-8 years does it seem that they are paying attention to shells. All the state ground that I have been stopped on they check my shells, this is not an issue as I only shoot non-tox shells...

    New E-collar needed

Tri-tronics/Garmin, I had a Tri-tronics Field 90 for years until the batteries in my 2 collars finally died. I was unable to get new batteries for them as by that time Garmin had bought out Tri-tronics. So I upgraded to the Garmin Pro 550 Upland with 2 collars and have had no issues what so ever...

How long do you hunt your dogs?

I take 2 trips to SD every year and for as long as I can remember both my dogs have hunted all 5 days of each trip, early and late season. My oldest is 12 now and my youngest will be 6 at xmas and both hunt all day for 5 days straight and have no issues with it. I have found that giving a small...

    Emergency haying.

Was out 2 weeks ago doing some scouting for the upcoming season and as my buddy and I both thought, most if not all the crep land we hunt had been hayed, most fields were atleast 50% if not more. Some fields were both hayed and being grazed at the same time. Birds will be concentrated this year...

    Rail road tracks

I dove into this years ago in SD as I was wondering the same thing. After numerous calls and e-mails I was finally able to get a answer from the railroad I spoke with and they stated that no you can't hunt the tracks as the tracks themselves are owned by the railroad (private property). Like...

    Hunting rig -SOLD-

I have had the truck for 160K miles, I usually run additive every other tank of fuel. I currently have an airdog 165 lift pump so that takes a lot of stress off of the stock cp4 pump.

    Hunting rig -SOLD-

For the Truck alone I would like $15K but if someone bought the entire setup I would sell it for $15,500. I know used trucks and especially diesels in good condition are going for crazy amounts now but I think what I am looking to get is a very fair price especially with all the work done to the...

Thanks! I love the truck but don’t need two diesels and this one won’t pull the new camper.

So I am looking to sell my Truck and Dog box & Drawer setup sometime this year and would really like to sell it to someone that would appreciate the truck and use it like I have the last 5 years. How to judge a good bird dog?

The responses to this thread are great! Couldn't have said it better myself! I will say though that at the end of bad day shooting or bad trip, nothing makes me forget about that bad day faster than a compliment about my dog and a retrieve she made or something she did that day or that trip. I...

    What's in your vest?

Besides the usual water, shells & transmitter. I carry a Leatherman, nice folding knife, large zip ties & rope/lead for traps, emt gel, toilet paper in a ziploc bag, baby wipes and usually a extra pair of gloves.

    Gloves

I purchased the Orvis Upland gloves and the Orvis cold weather gloves this season. Now don't get me wrong they are crazy expensive for gloves, $98 for the upland gloves and $119 for the cold weather gloves but they have been nothing short of incredible this season! I have hands that get cold...

    Beretta A400 20ga Upland

I shoot both a 20 & 28 in the A400, love both of them! I have the 12 as well but it feels like a tank compared to the smaller gauges so it usually stays home.

    10 UggM start for opener

I hunt MN, IA & SD and I love the early start in IA of 8am, birds are starting to move and come off the roosts but you can still find plenty of birds in CRP or light cover. MN is 9am and by that time most birds have already moved to the food and have left the roosts so it makes for a more...

    Southeast SD vs Iowa

I hunt both SE SD and NC & NW Iowa and I would say they are both comparable. The habitat in Iowa is fantastic! Other states could learn from IA on this one. The only problem with NW & NC IA is you are in the heart of the highest #'s and that means you see the same for hunter numbers.

    CONFESS!

Our group still goes out every opener, we have a spot that is pretty secluded and only has two parking areas and no bordering roads. we usually have 1-2 trucks at each parking area and really don't have to worry about the mobs of people, they drive down see trucks and back out. With that being...
