I agree. Just getting out there with the dogs is fun.I'm 66 and I can't hunt all day like I used to. I hunt and walk in the field until my legs get tired and work my way back to the truck. I used to hunt late into the day but my legs only have so many miles in them these days. I go back to the motel much earlier than I used to. I have a couple surgeries coming up for skin cancer and a cataract in my left eye that I'm going to get fixed next year. I miss more than I used too. It is what it is. I try not to measure my hunting by how many miles I walk or how many birds I kill any more. I try to get out enough that the dogs are tired and are happy and if we can into some birds and do some shooting....it was a good day. If we don't...well that's hunting and it was still a good day. It is what you make of it.
My wife knows exactly where I am cause she has the locator thing with our I phones.I sure hope I can still hunt at 81. I've never had any knee issues, but hunting alone at 81 is probably not a good idea.
Take some salt and a pocket knife. Turnips are awesome to eat. LolI am 61 and walk 3 miles a day, 3-4 days per week but those cattail sloughs ruin my day! some of the thicker sage grass aint any better. And you have not lived until you walk a turnip patch for pheasants.
I tried progressive lenses. They didn't work at all. Years ago, on the advise of a hunting brother, I went to lined bifocals with the "bi" set low so it didn't impact my shooting or walking. Still works to this day. The only downside is raising my head high to use a computer, which is fine with me.I
I’m 74 and got progressive glasses about 3 years ago. My shooting has gone in the toilet. I’m trying to compensate by buying new guns. It kind of works, at least it is fun.
