Heavy Rain, Hail and Wind in Aberdeen

We had a heck of a storm roll through last night after midnight. Rain totals this morning range from 2.33" - 4.0" depending which side of town you were in. We also had a lot of hail (marble to quarter size) and strong winds. Just what we really didn't need. And I'm sure last night couldn't have been real good on newly hatched chicks or any nests still being sat on. They probably floated away. :(

SESD is in the same boat. A lot of rain the past three weeks has not been good.

Just got back from the Platte area of SD. Lots of standing water around, in fact one of the BIG pay to hunt places (Torrey Lake Lodge) is completely cut off by the lake--access by boat only, but I did see lots of hen/rooster pairs so if it holds off on the rain and storms we will still get a hatch.

I finally got ONE food plot planted and hope for 3 more this week --no rain please--. There has been one thing that has loved the rain and that is THISTLE!!!!! We would be in good shape if half of the chinese would take one plant for their own. I have 10 ft tall Bull Thistle growing in 4 inches of standing water and you can't even get to it to spray. The darn stuff is every where.

I am hopeful but it will take some luck to see a banner pheasnat season, its hard to judge as the cover is really thick and you just don't see many birds except in the evenings on gravel roads.

Well time will tell, its now a waiting game.
