Leaving out tomorrow morning heading to meet up with PTM in Montana for some hunting. He promised we'll burn some leather and Dad and I are ready for it. Weather looks good, can't wait to be there.

This is how JP prepped for the trip last night.

Be safe, have fun, come back with wonderful stories, and as many birds as you choose.

Oh, and pictures...lotsa pictures.

We got a late start today so it looks like we'll probably only make Elko, NV today.

It's hard to get much more than a glimpse of a springer on camera after they've been cooped up for hours but JP slowed long enough for a pic somewhere out of Winamuca.

There was a lot of standing water on Wed. when I went by there coming back. See all that green? That's the kiss of death for Chukar hunters because it means the birds will be on the very tops of those little mountain ranges you drive by and don't need water. You have to climb all the way to the top until snow drives them down.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the new, green grass. Still a bit of standing water and even a dusting of snow on the highest peaks.

Very cool rob. I know you're always good with posting pics so I'm not going to ask. Lol

Enjoy your trip!!

Cool. I know a local farming family here that just left for Montana. They bought a large ranch just for hunting. One of the guys went duck hunting in CA Saturday but I don't think it went well

Heading out for our first real day of hunting, looks like it's going to be a wet one.

Hunting was rough this morning but we ended up getting into the birds in the afternoon.

More to come fellas.

Wow!

That land goes on forever!

It's beautiful, but my old legs just sent a quick message to my brain saying,
"Don't even THINK about that."

Nice work. Good hunting.

Nice country. Is that private or public land? All wild birds?

All wild birds taken on state wildlife management areas and waterfowl production areas.

Today we hunted the birdiest looking land you could imagine which was type 2 block management (private land open to hunters with permission) and had a tough time. Between 4 hunters with 4 dogs on the ground at all times we harvested 3 roosters. The birds just beat us today.:(

Getting after it again in the morning on some private ground.

6 roosters and 2 sharps for the group on the first walk this morning.
