Hey guys. I have never gone hunting before and soon I will be going on a Pheasent hunting trip. Do you have any good tips for hunting? Aiming tips of sorts or any thing at all? I will be using a .22 Ruger hunting rifle.

Only shotguns are legal for small game/waterfowl, no smaller than .410 and no larger than 10ga that I'm aware of.

welcome to the MONEY PIT we call hunting!!!!!:laugh::laugh: now as far as that 22 goes you can shoot some tree rats or rabbits. then buy yourself a 20ga pump shotgun. happy hunting and welcome to our world:thumbsup:.

I trust you will be going with an experienced upland hunter, ask them to mentor you, or find someone local ASAP! Sounds like no one has taken any time with you. Have you had a hunters safety course? Most states require this, some depends on when you were born. Has to be someone from this site close to home. Wish you all the best...keep us posted

At this stage, I'd recommend borrowing a friends 20 gauge shotgun, preferably a youth model and tell the person taking you that you would like to practice by shooting clays before you go. This would also be a great opportunity for them to brush up too! This will give you a feel for the gun so that you are not surprised in the field should the recoil be too much. Shooting is like any sport, involves fundamentals, and starts with the proper stance. For me, shooting right handed, all my weight is shifted on left leg, knee slightly bent. My right front part of foot(toes) is placed behind left foot (8-10") at approx. 90 degrees to stabilize or balance. Take some time to practice mounting the gun, bringing it up to shoulder while sighting down the barrel. Don't want to overwhelm you with too much, just trying to help you be successful.
Had my 21 yr old niece out shooting last weekend for her first time and at one point she hit 5 in a row! She had a blast! Ready to go again. All the best...

First thing she needs to do is go through a hunters safety course for her state.

I'm sure had she gone through that she would have been taught that you don't wanna be trying to shoot phez with a .22 and in alot of states its illegal possibly including hers.
