Albino Pheasants?

Albino

I have not but a farm owner in SD where I hunted a couple of times had one mounted he took off his property just over 20 years ago.

Not pure Albino but This one was shot on opener 2010. Saw another one even whiter than this one before season but never during the season. Don't see them all the time but everyonce in a while.

In the 70s my uncle shot 2 from the same field on the same day. I would guess they were brood mates.

My dog pointed an albino on public land last season. I walked up, flushed the bird and was quite startled. I was fairly close to a farmyard and at first thought it was a chicken. As it leveled off I could see the long tail and red around the eyes and knew it was a rooster pheasant. It presented a good shot, but I let it pass. About 15 years ago, one of my hunting partners shot a mostly-white partial albino in SD, a pretty bird. Back in the 70's, I was hunting partridge before the MN pheasant season was open. I had a long flush on a fenceline on public land. There were 6 or more pheasants flushing all at once and they were mostly white, a couple of them looked all white.

Not exactly Albino but a odd bronze color all the same, note that the legs are white--taken off my land in SD about 4 yrs ago

A friend shot one in KS last year, looked very cool. Years ago some land owners had one living in the shelter belt right next to the house all season long, took some pics, not sure where they are at now.

I must have been sleeping or out getting a beer (I'll go with the latter) when he shared that story.
2.5 months:thumbsup:

This is an albinized bird I shot in MN in about 1980.

I saw white and red on the head, and that was enough for me!
