I was checking for dusting pots yesterday. Saw some good news for my area, though we could use some rain. Watering areas are drying up plus the crops are starting to look stressed.
Where water still remains there was plenty of pheasant tracks in the mud. Many tracks left behind from pheasant chicks:thumbsup:
Roosters are still cackling away within their established areas/territories.
Seeing a nice bump in cotton tail rabbits this year compared to years past.
There's a group of Hungarian Partridge that's moved into the particular area I was observing. Haven't seen Hun's around here since the 90's.
A couple of turkeys in the area too.
Thanks be to the farmer!!!!! He left the hedgerows alone!!! Beautiful wide hedgerows. I was concerned this spring due to tile/drainage/Roundup (of hedgerows) work being done around this area. Anyway, the hedgerows are still there and looking very diverse this year! Prime pheasant chick, and roosting habitat. A lot of shrubs coming in to.
Thus far, all good news my friends:cheers:
