hunting season is here-
nice time to show some pictures of your dog backing on wild birds- since the season started-
I'll start- Prairie Chickens

Shadow, What kind of collar are you using?

I dont have any pictures yet from this year, but I have a few from last year. Here's Elsie (Foreground) backing her Dad.

On Point

Gone but not forgotten.
Both dogs had been working the edge of a large grain field and disappeared at the far end into a small timber that bordered a stream. When I reached the trees I found them about 30 yards in the timber. The stream is in the background. This was taken about forty years ago.

Great pics of the GSPs and Brittanys. My Brittany backed another last year from about 30 feet back. Interesting to look at. Was not carrying camera.

No new ones from this year, but here are a few I've taken. My GWP is the only one that doesn't back. We're working on it. I got him when he was 3 or 4 years old and I'm lucky he does all he does for me.

Below is a pic with one of V-john's great dogs.

Above is John's dog from way back.

Below is a pic of my GWP showing me he knows he's supposed to back, but he'd rather get a bit closer;)

Great pics KB. I like that cover and terrain. Will the d*** opener please get here!

KB- know exactly what you mean- young male wasn't much on backing last year- this year he's showing promise- most times he tiptoes from aways away and gets right close- as in my first picture- think he needs to hunt alone with his dad to really catch on

WIHA in unit 29- nice BIG grass area- ran 2 for a couple hours- went back and got the other two-

BEEP- Shadow on point at 171 yards, BEEP- Lizzi on point at 177 yards- BEEP- Choc on point at 181 yards-

ok- where's the other one- the slow/old one

nope- never got a shot- but a great few hours in some real nice country

I love seeing multiple dogs in action. You all have posted some great pics.
Here are some from last season, as the Prairie Chicken hunting has been pretty much a bust so far.

My favorite picture of why I love to hunt. Taken last year.

One more.

This is w/ another UPHr's GSP. I believe 4 (maybe 5) members of this site have a pup from the GSP that is backing, including me. I believe they were pointing a covey of quail in that hedgerow. Pic was taken during last year's youth hunt.
