Works fine on the computer. But I cant' haul my desktop around with me.

Wiha

I had to download the ARCGIS App that is shown on KDWP website. It loads on a different map not the google earth.

The hi-lighted part is probably your problem. When I had an Iphone 4 I could never get it to load and my buddy with his clunky old droid at the time had no issues.

I've got a Razrm that is 2 yrs old and no issues. I cant remember if my buddy got his to load on his Iphone 5 last year or not. You may need to do some tweaks to get it to work right.

I did it a few weeks ago and it worked fine.

I downloaded the app that gives the WIHA atlas but can not find the definitions for the abrreviations used. What does NJ or NJASO mean? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Are y'all using google earth on an iPhone? I can get the other app to work. But I would like to import my waypoints from google earth and use it.

I've given the Google Earth waypoints a try the last few years, but it seems like I'm spending more time messing with gadgets and trying to make them work for me than I should. I'm still gonna download the stuff, but I'm going with good old paper as my main way of planning and locating.

I have it on my Garmin.

It's nice to be riding down the road and know that there is some WIHA ahead.
And my waypoints remind me if it was productive in the past or not.

Yeah, there are sure positives to it. I know I've spent a lot of time fiddling around with getting WIHA into my Garmin, Google Earth, whatever -- and it always seems like I'm not that well off when I'm in the field. Maybe a good thread would be 'how do you use electronics in the field'.

You guys are hi-tech! I just have a binder full of old walk in maps, and a lot of notes scribbled down in them about particular spots. If the spots are no good, then I have them crossed off.

Walk In Maps

To bad Kansas doesn't have a map like the South Dakota app. South Dakota's map incorporates GPS, can select between TOPO and satalite maps. We used an ipad and just drove around to public spots, clearly notes as to what kind of public spot they were (steel/lead). I would sit in passenger seat scouting areas and give directions like, go straight to streets take a left, public is on right.

OK -- now that sounds user friendly!

I have emailed back and forth with the guy in charge of the electronic maps. He said he hopes to have state WMA land incorporated next year. That way you can see all public land that is available to hunt.

It still acts wonky for me. I had it one day and then it was gone. Soetimes will pull up when I hit the download on kdwp. I have a pretty new lg g3 android. I am gonna delete google earth and everything and start over.

I think I got my problem fixed. I am the type that just throws instructions out the window and does it myself. My problem was that I opened the file in google earth the first time and as per their instructions it says that does NOT save it. You have to make sure to open it in your "browser" or it isnt saved. I UNINSTALLED google earth completely and reinstalled it , then downloaded the kdwp file and it is working fine now so far.
