which hunting collar to get?

i have a gsp that I want to take out for pheasant hunting eventually and I am looking for a decent shock/hunting collar that wont break the bank. anyone have any good recommendations?? thank you!!

I've nothing but great luck with my garmin delta, i'm in fact going to add another collar for our second dog soon. It's got tone, vibrate, the normal continuous/monentary stimulation, and is small enough for our 30lb eng cockers.

Dogtra, might not be the cheapest but they are the best. Many models to chose from!

Also I know it's not a big deal but drop calling them shock collars, use e collar instead please.

I've been using Sport Dog e-collars for about 10 years and have never had a problem. Batteries seem to hold up well and have never failed. They have 2 models, one for stubborn dogs and a regular. The stubborn dog model has a little more aggressive bite.

I've had good luck with the Tritronics field models... don't know if everything is Garmin now or not. A lot of guys sweat by the dogtra too. I'll keep buying TT/Garmin until they give me a reason not to.

I vote for Dogtra. And I would go with the simplest model so long as it had vibrate in addition to nick and shock. I think these are universal on Dogtras.

GO to gun dog supplys web site and watch the video reviews they are good people I get my collars from them

I think the pro 500 is probably the best one but not cheap and a cheap collar is more expensive in the long run

Been using TriTronics for roughly 18 years now, would get a new model every 3-4 years. Never had a problem with the product or customer service/maintenance when I needed that neither. Haven't notice a difference since Garmin has acquired then as well...Ultimately its all personal preference tho

Dogtra Arc is as good as it gets. The old Tritronics were great but don't buy anything with Garmin.

Dogtra........i have a 2 dog collar set, flawless going on 6-7 years now. :thumbsup:

I love the Dogtra collars. You also can't go wrong with Tri-tronnics.
