Hi Dan
I currently have two Drahthaars and have had a couple others throught the years. My two draths would probably go after a cat and so would my shorthair, but that is because they have never been around them. I have heard about many successful stories on how a drath and cats can get along, but it all comes down to introducing them at an early age. I will say draths are very much pray driven. Drahthaars can handle some heat, but you do want to watch them. I live in Iowa and it can get up to 100, but they handle it. I just make sure they have shade and lots of water. At one time I looked at a breader in SC that breeds Drahthaars. The majority of my hunting is pheasants, but they also do real well when I go duck and goose hunting. I love this breed.
