Last weekend of pheasant season here in Iowa is defiantly going to be a memorable one for my family.
We met up with Iowa labs and his family, Madison Co and his pup Gunnar, and a couple of other guys for an end of the season hunt. Lots of birds were seen and a few were bagged. There was plenty of great dog work to watch and alot of learning taking place.
What started out as a day trip for us turned into an over nighter because we were having such a great time.
There is something to be said for a guy that puts all the secrecy's of honey holes aside and puts more value into spending time with good people and watching good dogs work. Hats off to you and your family Iowa Labs.
Here are a few pictures to share.
I have to add the rest to the next post. Only 6 pics allowed.
Kind of a neat pic. Jim is in between our 2 dogs. Have to look close. But to the left you can see the hen flushing.
This is a "Trust your dog" picture. Max was on point and I couldnt get him to break. I couldnt find the bird. This went on for about 4 min.
Finally he had enough of me badgering him and he reached in and gave me the bird! She had issue as she had no tail feathers. I took her from Max and quietly tucked her back into the brush.
Jim and Max with a bird.
This is my all time favorite picture though. This is what hunting should truly be about! Thanks guys, we had a great time!
