What do you take with you hunting?

Add a list of things you pack or take with you while hunting. What all do you take with and what all do you actually carry with you into the field? I am kind of new to this so I want to see if I missing anything.

Dog water (1.5 liters) and plastic bowl, TP, both quail and pheasant loads, and maybe an extra choke if I think I might need to tighten up.

I have 2 bags for pheasant hunting. One has all the dog stuff, collars, chargers, first aid kit, EMT gel, food and water. The second bag has vests, shells, jackets, extra boots, extra socks, gloves, hats, bird cleaning stuff. Then all I need is my dogs, my gun and my buddy!

Depends....

Out of town or a day trip? I'm a compulsive list maker so there's a lot.

For a day trip, I have everything in bag with shells, chokes, silicone cloth, collapsible cleaning rod (fell in a muddy corn field once), small vet kit for the dog, whistles, leatherman, fillet knife, compass, gps, tp, dog snacks, vest, dry t-shirt and dry socks, blaze collar for dog, dog boots, spare set of boot laces, mini-mag flashlight, and a spare blaze hat.

My multi-day trips out of town ended up on an excel spreadsheet.:D

I used to be a big list maker, and still do for longer trips, but once hunting season opens my stuff stays in the truck. I have a gun kit, containing shells, cleaning tools and such related stuff. Then a dog kit that has all I need for him. I also have a tool kit, you never know what breaks down when you most need it. My travel bag stays half packed year round, under armor, socks, hunting pants. Throw in some changes of clothes and the shaving kit and I'm gone for a weekend, etc..

I recently bought a 4x6 enclosed trailer so I could keep all of my hunting stuff (waterfowl and upland) in once place and just hook the hting up and hit the road. I built a gun rack in it, ammo rack, and a clothes rack in the back for all of that gear. I keep my decoys in it, dog gear, dog training supplies, game bins, waders, my 2 pairs of boots and just about anything else you can think of. thing is light as hell and doesnt effect my gas mileage at all. It is by far my favorite hunting investment and I never have to worry about oh shit I left something at home and I can hunt ducks in the AM and go back to the truck switch out guns and some blaze orange and hit the field for pheasants. I love it..if you cant tell already. Here is a pic of it..

This dude's got it down to a science!

In the field......
My new Wings Works Vest, Water, Shells, Gun, Collar remote, small 1st aid kit and Dogs.

don't forget the bailing wire and duct tape:) I also make sure I have a cleaning rod with a wire brush , yeh I learned the hard way but the sapling branch and t shirt worked fine in that case.

Pretty simple, really. Gun, dog, dog crate, my gear bag (shells, spare gloves, spare socks, etc.), dog's gear bag (water, bowl, food, treats, 1st aid gear). Just throw it all in the truck and go.

A shotgun, sometimes a backup, shells, cooler of drinks and snacks, 5 gallon insulated water jug for the dog water and hand cleanup, emergency rations including TP (or Kleenex on a roll as we refer to it), spare pair of boots usually, variety of clothes depending on projected weather conditions, and a toolbag that goes everywhere with me.

That list seems so small, when it comes time to load up the truck there will be a lot more :).

Oh yeah, duct tape for the heels. If your boots are starting to rub a blister, put a patch of duct tape on your heel. The tape will slip against the boot rather than your heel/skin against the boot. It works, believe me.

Forgot one thing. I always carry a spare shotgun! The one time I didn't my gun quit working in the field, had to go to town and buy a used gun at the hardware store. Lesson learned, bring a spare and you never need it. Forget it and guess what, you have another gun in your safe.

Jacket, change of shoes, shells in metal ammo case, hat, vest, water for me, beer, buddy, dogs.

Hell I forgot the gun again! Or forgot the jacket like my last trip. Thank God I had my wool shirt with me and an extra shirt in the truck because it was cold but it worked out. I think everyone should have a wool shirt. Probably the best hunting gear I've ever bought.
