Warm Temps

For those hunting the Minnesota opener and those hunting the Resident Only season in SD this weekend. Make sure you take care of you dogs. It's going to be fairly warm with temps in the 80's. Don't push your dogs too hard and make sure they have adequate water.

Thanks for the reminder. Sat. should not be too bad. The resident opener is kind of wierd. With all the corn, you sometimes do not see many birds in the grass until late, tho I have seen exceptions. You can sometimes get into a clutch that is still hanging together and get two or three!

Great advise.

Hunting early and the last few hours are probably best.

When the sunlight hits a dogs fur - it has a large effect on their ability to regulate their body temperature. Dark colored dogs being more susceptible than light colored dogs. Even humans ... ever notice that 55 F in the sun feels warmer than 65 F after dark. Magnified further when moving vs. stationary.

Hot and WINDY is the forecast across most of the MN pheasant range. I am not participating ... (decision is NOT weather related).

Careful where your dogs drinks too ... B-G algae may be a problem in localized areas.

What they are saying for SW MN (this afternoon forecast for upcoming weekend). Of course it can and will change.
