UPH gun dog challenge

I am glad to see that cooler minds have prevailed. Thanks Ken for spearheading this.

sounds to me like we are going to have a small window where peaple can come my trials start in november and end in march

Fun

Well I cant say as that My dogs are the best and with one being in training currently I might get the short end of the stick, but it sounds like a good time to me just love being outside with dogs looking for birds!!!

1st day- 2 fields
flushers without shock collars-
flushers with shock collars
pointers without shock collars-
pointers with shock collars

2nd day- top 4 in each class go head to head

noon on second day- top flusher without shock collar head to head with top pointer without shock collar

top flusher with shock collar head to head with top pointer with shock collar

think it'd be interesting and fun to see flusher and pointer head to head in a timed event, shots fired, retrieves, and then top in each class flusher vs pointer as in the finals

you really can't judge handling if shock collars are worn-

like that- I'd come- wouldn't care to come and run in a shock collar class

actually- some have pointers that will flush- some have flushers that will hold a bird- so- a flushing dog that stands a bird and a pointer that flushes- what group would those fit in

This has been hashed around many many time . On the shock collars many seem to think its a hunting so they should be allowed to use them other feel it its atest to see how well your dog is trained. As for pointing labs if you tell that dog to flush it up after the point and it does not that dog would be in pointing div. As for a pointer flushing his own bird if he/her could go in the flushing but if it holds point and does not flush the bird it should stay in pointing div.

my 2 cents:

Tie breaker is quickest time to first bird.

Pointing lab or chihuahua is declared at time of entry.

All birds are chukars.

hey, what did you expect for 2 cents? :D

I hope this works out and becomes an annual event, you may even get me to drive halfway across the country to meet you all one year.

I would agree with chukars because in early spring you will get a lot of trapped pheasants due to them adding fat for breeding season. That is my experience anyway.

This is true, and will have eggs. Just don't make me shoot at a darn quail, I can't hit ruff grouse, so they are no diferent I'm sure.:D But available "Good birds" will be what we can get I guess.

Chuckers are what we use and they work fine. Im with FCSPRINGER NO QUAIL.tHEY DONT LIKE TO FLY VERY GOOD IN THE SPRING AND HAVE ALOT OF TRAPS

chuckling- I tried my brothers Golden Retriever on wild quail- halarious-

wild quail- can be quite frustrating with flushing dogs

Hey guys,

I'm new here because a friend told me that you need help organizing a fun trial. We have about a half dozen NSTRA trials and a dozen BDC trials at our grounds this year however I can probably squeeze you in. I'll donate the grounds for free. We're located about 45 minutes southeast of Kansas City, MO. We have a lot of sponsors for our trials too and I'm sure I could get them to kick in a few grand worth of prizes for you. I don't have much time this time of year to check forums but if someone wants to spearhead organizing the members, I'll take care of organizing the grounds and having everything set up for you.

I just talked to Shawn at Shady Meadows and he has a HUGE hunting preserve and he said we could hold the event there. He is in Missouri and is one heck of a good dude. They are starting to holding a lot of trails there.
