In the market for "insulated" hunting boot - mainly December hunting, 20-30 temps.

Found: Red Wing "Vaprtrek" boot; sold out at Gander Mt.. This boot released about two years ago and is a big seller. $179 at Red Wing store.

Found it on Amazon. If I ordered Amazon credit card, the net cost was $70.60.

What a good deal!

That's a good bargain. I had a similar experience with Gander a few years ago. They were getting out of their three forks products the day we went in. They had Three Forks Wapiti 200 gram thinsulate boots listed at $269 marked 75% off. I bought both pair that they had in my size for a total of $135. Good shopping!

Great deal!! What usually happens is they quit making the boots that are awesome for some new design and the don't fit the same or fall apart.. I wish they would stick with what has been a good boot instead of trying a new design!!

Yep I agree I bought 3 pairs of Danners made for cabelas some 20 years ago and retire one pair in SD this year, but I can not find those anymore. Another pair should be retired according to my wife, but they are just being broke in.....no longer waterproof but what the hell.

I tried on a pair of the Vaprtreks this fall. For me they were no where close to as comfortable as my Irish Setter Upland Havoc boots.

Great Deal

That's a great deal. Hope they work for you. I've had really good luck with my moc toe 7" Irish Setter Havocs. It seems to be the perfect boot in that temperature range with a merino wool sock and a sock liner. When I'm in the slop or snow I'm gonna go with muck up landers this year. I always wear gators, but with the mucks you don't need them. When you get older you sure find out that a good fitting boot is almost important as your gun. They have such an impact on how your back holds out on a long ten day hunt.

Agreed. The boots I have now are chemical boots. My trugreen guy said he walked all day every day treating lawns. He said he loved his boots. Waterproof, comfortable, he said the only problem is his feet sweat when he's spraying lawns in the summer. I went to the trugreen shop and bought 2 pairs. I now have collected 5 pairs from various bribes and trades. I figured, those spray guys walk 11 miles a day spraying chemicals in lawns. My feet dont sweat unless its really warm. But I wear these boots in freezing temps. Thick redhead socks but stay plenty warm. And its like walking on pillows. I dont even take em off to ride 4 hours back to Missouri after a hunt in Kansas. Bogs makes em but they make the spray boots special for Trugreen staff only.
