I think Gardy even knew it was time as he stated in the press conference that he was in complete agreement with the decision. Quote unquote "Maybe it's time for a new face around here".
IMO Ryan should have been canned as well, he didn't exactly get Gardy anything substantial to work with that last couple years. Ryan says he's looking both in house and outside the Twins organization. Rumors are that Molitor would be the front runner for a in-house selection. Personally, with Ryan still here, I would be in favor for someone outside the organization. Someone that is not connected to the previous regime.

Doug Mientkiewicz is my first choice. He's done a great job managing the Fort Meyers team. He young, enthusiastic and has a lot of "FIRE"! Something the Twins has lacked. Plus he's worked with most the the Twins young players already. He would bring a new perspective to the Twins. And at 40 he would be the youngest manager in MLB.
