I went and bought a S&W 20 ga.. It's has fixed chokes which are ic/m.It has 26" barrels and chambered for 3" shells.Bought it from a dealer in Victoria,Texas.Plan on posting pics soon as camera problem gets resolved.

I will look forward to your pics and report Phil. The Smith's have interested me for some time now.

Congrats on the new purchase

It came with 2 socks 1 for the barrels and 1 for the butt stock and a cable lock.It also has a lifetime warranty that you can sign up for free of charge. It has a owners manual too_On the warranty form you can fill out whoever it is that will inherit your gun name on it and the warranty will be good for them as well.

Glad you took it! Hope you like it. Cabelas in in K.C. had several "Dickensons" when I was there on the 29 th of Oct. I was thinking long and hard about one of them as they are the same gun made by same people , just did not have the S&W name. They were made from left over parts when S&W canceled their deal with the Turkish makers. I decided to go with a CZ Bobwhite to get the screw-in chokes, because of the increasing need for non-toxic shot and cheaper price. With open chokes the steel shoots better than with any choke. I was afraid the mod barrel would get a problem if using steel, so I chose the CZ. Those S&W's are very nice though. I did find a Bobwhite with 28" bbls in Cabelas Sidney, and bought it, and so far I really like it.
Good shooting with your S&W. They sure look and feel good to me!

I'll bet you like it. Some time ago I picked up an older Beretta 20 o/u with fixed IC/M chokes and 26in barrels. If your gonna have fixed chokes and shoot flying I think this is the best compromise.

Mine has done well for me in all my endeavors with it.
Congrats and pics please:)

Sounds like a fine choice . . . enjoy!

I thought long and hard about one of those Dickenson's myself. Didn't know the story on them, but kind of thought that might be the case. Still thinking.

Dickinson is indeed the old S&W GOLD. Interesting thing tho is S&W never sold a 12. ga. Different stock finish on most (satin not oil). A sxs site gives them high scores to date. I wish they had tubes tho.

Thanks for the info-

I fully appreciate the versatility of tubes, have a pile of them for my Beretta auto and o/u. That said, when I'm chasing pheasants, what is in the gun? Its always a modified. If I'm carrying the O/U, its IC and Mod. Opening weekend, carried my 60 year old Ithaca 20 guage, choked full.

I guess my point is, sometimes we over complicate things, rather than just doing them. :)

Just about everything I shoot is ic and mod. Early season I could see ic/ic/or cyl/ic. My 12ga Uggie is labeled ic full..

Update

Had it out a couple of times to see how it does.Went rabbit and squirrel hunting to try different shot loads with it to burn up left over shells. It patterns good with #6 shot. I had 1 oz. and 1.25 oz. win. 2 3/4" shells and were about the same in pattern so I'll staying with that size. My friend and I got a total of 20 rabbit and 15 squirrel in the 2 days we went out.

Sweet, at least somebody has rabbit's and squirrel's. They are all but extinct here.

Where my friend and I hunted was at his dads place. His dad keeps the place so that the rabbits and squirrel have plenty of cover for the winter.Him and his dad have a couple of rifles to keep the population down. They also work on the raccoon population pretty hard too.

Have pics taken. Just having trouble transferring pics from camera to computer.

I hope this worked for uploading.

I know they are a little blurry but they are pics of my 2- ga. that I told you about.
