Ticks

Has anyone else been picking ticks yet? Ive been out and about along the river here with the dog and about an hour south of sioux city. Already tired of them.

Oddly haven’t seen any here in Ohio. Normally quite a nuisance by now. We had a good drought last summer. Maybe a silver lining

Yep, west of Sioux City, last weekend found one crawling on me. It's that season. Started Nex Gard that day....for the dog.

Beware the ticks with the white dot on their back. They are the lonestar tick and cause Alpha Gal, which I have.

I think the larva of the Lonestar are what we call turkey tics here. Tiny little monsters. They can be found in large numbers that I assume are recent hatches. Lots of horror stories around here. I have a few myself! Sorry to hear about the Alfa gal. Lots of cases of Lymes here but haven't heard of any Alpha gal yet. It hits 60 degrees here and they come out. I pulled a tic off in Dec. and two in Feb.

I haven't seen any yet but its still been getting below freezing here at night on occasion.

I applied the chemicals to the dog's back last week just in case though.

My dogs had ticks on them in March. Deer ticks in MN get active on the first warm spell. Tick pill works extraordinarily well for the dogs.
