Thinking about taking one early!

Sitting out on Grandpa's farm today. Looking at 6 cocks and two hens eating some corn by the grain bins. Man, I could take one so easy. Been here all week helping Grandpa out with chores. Waiting for all my Illinois boys to meet up. Beer drinking to start soon and a breast would taste awful good today.

I recall you gpa's property is near Pierre. Have you seen the video of the Warne Ranch that's somewhere near Pierre?

Can't recall seeing so many birds in one video - maybe your hunting is similar?

Good luck and stay safe.

I was in a 5 acre patch on private ground in december last year east of Pierre. We had 1000+ flush out. I posted about it in december of last year. Biggest flush I have ever seen in 30+ years of hunting.

Interesting...if you haven't seen the "Warne Ranch" video, it's worth the view. I'm not sure how one would "hunt" all those birds...maybe just watch them fly about!

I was in the middle with my dog, head high sunflowers and weeds. I never fired a shot, but I was carrying several when I came out. Everytime someone shot near me my dog would run and pick up another bird. At least he had fun.

Years ago (12?) we stood on a paved road just before opening and watched birds cross from a corn field to crp. This went on for about 20 minutes. Not sure how many crossed, as we then hunted the corn and managed a few. Must have been 600-800 birds - largest flock I have ever observed!

There's a couple spots I can think of where guys just lay in the ditch and pass shoot, late afternoon, hilarious.
