And I only shot one bird.
I had just got home from farming and had about 10 Min's of shooting time left. I told my 5 year old we were going to go hunting and to get his boots on. I have an acre patch of switch grass that I planted next to my place two years ago and it has finally filled in. We walked to the end of the patch and Spawn, the lab my son claims as his, flushes out a rooster. After saying a short prayer that I would not miss, I fired and down it went. There is something special about shooting your first bird on land that you own. It was also the first time that my son went pheasant hunting with me and we shot a rooster. I do not think I will ever have a better hunt. That bird is going on the wall for sure. As an added bonus it had a 25 inch tail feather.
