I know this topic has been discussed before but I can't seem to locate the thread.

What is the surfactant of choice to mix with my Glyphosate ?
Getting ready for a fall spray of a 7 acre fescue field.

I know Tractor Supply has a brand and i know some use dawn soap.

Comments? Mix rates?

Thanks.

Use a non-ionic surfactant like SP 90 at a quart per acre to a quart per 100 gallons of mix. Ammonium nitrate isn't a surfactant, it aids in growth stimulation which improves the action of the herbicide as I understand it. A surfactant disperses the chemical and water carrier to make it coat more evenly.

Roundup says it has additives, but I find adding some improves the results.

The surfactant helps get the roundup through the waxy covering on the leaves and into the plant, the nitrogen would help encourage the plant to take the chemical in with the nitrogen and translocate it around.

If the gly your using has a brownish/golden color then it has a surfactant already added but a little bit more wouldn't hurt. Some gly is pretty much clear and its void of any surfactant.
