State rights for Nebraska!

I can't believe that we have a pheasant hunting blog, without a separate blog for Nebraska on the main register. Since I was a kid, Nebraska was a dream, sharp tails, prairie chickens, and pheasants. Quail to in good years. I have still shot more pheasants in Nebraska than an equal amount of days than any other state except S.D. If the Nebraska supporters will keep up the support, Nebraska might get it's recognition. Lots of good things. Open lands and water, USDA borders, rainwater basin properties , The " good life",.... sure was for bird hunters.

Yeah, it is kind of funny, then they have states like Minn.,Missouri, Penn. and Wisc., really doesn't make alot of sense to me unless they determine state status by population of hunters rather then birds? I haven't been a member long, but I have already had 2 out of staters P.M. me about what I should or shouldn't right on the forum, good to know the "THOUGHT" police are out there! I guess they figure if they post enough on this forum, it makes them a "pheasant expert",but, in actuality, it just shows you have to much idle time on your hands I believe. Having been born and raised in upland country my whole life, I kind of take exception to some yahoo telling me what or rather what not to post.

im pretty sure MN has harvested more pheasants then NE the past 2-3 years maybe thats why MN has a thread??? its a main state also... we do border SD & ND 2 top pheasant states & have 1 of the most extensive wildlife management systems is the country that holds pheasant & other upland game species...

i think its good to know simple things like that about other pheasant states across the country thats one thing that makes this forum so great...

i wish the NE thread would have more activity as well posts are very few & far between & many times vague & or kinda rude...

i love hunting NE & have hunted all across the great state & would love to see pheasants quail prairie grouse & turkeys all thrive in NE once again pheasants & quail need the help at the time being...

happy hunting to you NE boys i may be heading ur way some time soon seen good numbers of quail & pheasants this spring & ur pheasant season opens in NOV mite be a good idea to head to NE this fall...

I think each state moves up the ladder by the number of threads/posts. So if you NE guys work hard at it and get posting you can have the honor of your state being listed with the rest those high posting states:D:cheers:

yes 1pheas4 im sure its about # of posts just let n pineridge uplander know there is pheasants in MN thats why we have a thread to post on... lol

There's no place like Nebraska!

I grew up in Nebraska in the late 70's and 80's.....
My father and I hunted all over the state and never gave much thought to traveling out of state as the bird numbers were plentiful and most farmers would allow access....

Lived in Omaha and I fondly remember each opening day.....driving west on I-80'in the early morning darkness....the steady stream of trucks and SUV's all heading west towards their favorite hunting spots. KFAB on the radio and the Big Report and local farm reports as well.....riding in the back of our Suburban along with the other bird dogs.....as I was too young to carry a gun in those early days. I lived for those days and listening to the old timers and their grand stories. The smell of coffee and hot chocolate....the excitement always kicked up a notch once we left the highway and hit the gravel / dirt section roads:)

Pheasants, dove, partraige, grouse, prairie chicken, turkey, ducks, geese. Bear, deer, elk, moose, wolf, all varmints to trap and hunt. Best fishing in the US, I'd say It will do for a red neck like me. ;)

FC, are you sure you're not talking about Wisconsin:D:D:cheers:

Come on, there might have been bobwhite quail in Minnesota sometime after the last ice age, but not any more, besides do you know how to hunt them? ;)

Yeah I know, I flew over Mn once and saw them, we have quite a few lakes too... and a coast line.

oldandnew yes they were around after the ice age more like the 1980s they were in fast decline here in MN in my life time i seen wild bob white quail hungarian partridge ruffed grouse pheasant & wild turkey on the same farm in SE MN

i have a handle on how to hunt em dont shoot into the flock let them land & start calling to 1 another trying to re group & hunt solo birds...

id love to head to NE this fall & get a bob white

I'm going to go plug Missouri, they might drop us off! We have as many pheasants as Minnesota has quail. My next victim will be Oklahoma! Has as many Pheasants as Missouri, and better quail hunting.

Honey, pack our things! We're moving to Minnesota!!!:D

Watch out, I am from Minnesota and will be hunting in the Marshall area this year. I have to spread the wealth around you know. Just bought my Out of State Nebraska license with Habitat Stamp for 2013.

Haha FC. I checked out Mn state records, they're pretty cute.:D;)

i stick with crappie sun fish trout & walleye used to fish loads as a kid have not been in a boat fishing in god knows how long i hunt now fishing took a way back seat id much rather be trout fishing & turkey hunting on MN fishing opener lol

i used to ice fish loads its been longer since i ice fished then boat fished i just cant get as excited any more for fishing as hunting??? maybe when i get older i go back to fishing once my legs/knees start to act up???

i do love trout fishing thow due to it being like hunting u have to wear colors that blend in & stay low move around & find the fish ETC. not just sit in the boat lol each to there own...
