So Pops threw me for a loop

So today I got a call from my father which is a life long upland hunter. And the call was to tell
me he bought a waterfowl spot. He never duck hunts what's going on? Really threw me for one big loop. He always said he didn't like waterfowl hunting. And I mean he's only 52 whats with the sudden change.
 
There is a lot more to hunting and shotgunning than strictly being an upland bird hunter.


Ducks are fun,as are rabbits, crows,and pigeons. Also if you've never called for coons or coyotes at night with a shotgun you're missing out.

Maybe your Dad just wants some variety?

Just caught me off cause he use to be against it
 
Its the mark of a reasonable man to change his mind about something. I enjoy hunting ducks. Upland is my first choice, but duck hunting is a great sport. My dogs love it!

Now that's funny:D Instead of buying a red corvette and getting a young girlfriend he bought a duck blind. Sounds pretty good to me.

Hey upland have you gone to Cabela's to get your waders yet? Make sure and post plenty of pictures:D

maybe he got tired of walking for the few birds left out there?
 
Maybe he wants some quality time with his son? Lots of long talks when the birds are not flying. We change when we start to get older. I was hard core Waterfowler, now not so much. Enjoy the upland more now. sitting in the below 0 weather just got old. At least my feet said so!! Still enjoy working the birds, just not the hauling in and out of lots of decoys. :cheers:

Upland, we all know that duck habitat often holds wild pheasants too;) Maybe there's something there he's not telling your about:D

If not, give the duck hunting a round or two. Pheasants and ducks are both fun to hunt::cheers:

I think you're right. Guys in their 50s do change it up. I bow hunted and Muskie fished like a nut for 40 years and gave them both up to pheasant hunt. Sold my boat and bow, and all my other stuff. In never hunted ducks because I never thought I could hit them, but I sure would like to try it sometime. The red Corvette and young girlfriend weren't options, but that's ok cuz I've never seen that end well.
 
Maybe you better check it out....LOL... some of those blinds have heaters, grills, hot coffee, not too shabby! And a good location is awesome shooting!:)
 
Might want to ask pops from time to time how his knees and hips are feeling.
