who all is goimg to get snow? here in sek,they are forecasting 10-15 inches of snow.....just what the quail needed.:mad:
 
8-10 inches of the white shit forecast here in KC, with freezing rain preceding. So much for trying out the new smoker anytime soon...

These are the type of weeks when I dread living in a big city. People around here think it's the apocalypse or something...

I have the same concerns. Seemed as though the quail bird population was showing signs of improvement this year, but a layer of ice, topped off w/ a foot or more of snow is going to put a serious hurting on many of our coveys:mad:

Better keep those pen-raised contacts handy for next season:(
 
A lot of NE Kansas, and NW Mo. already got a good inch of ice. That's enough of a killer, to be followed by 10+ inches of snow and below zero actual temperatures after. This is where the habitat proves out, with hard cover quail will survive. Marginal cover, maybe not. Pheasants can take a little more weather, and take it a little longer.

I agree! I can't stand the month of February. School's out today and I'm sitting here with nothing to do. But, I do have two pheasants and a rabbit pulled out for lunch. It's going to be nice.

we must have at least 15-18 inches on the ground.The weather service says we only have 10,but in my yard,without drifts,16 inches,with drifts 3-4 ft tall.No way what few quail we have will survive this,temps are going to fall,this snow will last along time.not good....
 
snowing hard, can only see about 100 ft out the window. have maybe 12" so far. calling for 20+ inches, 40mph winds. put one dog in heated shop, the rest are inside dogs. calling for -25 overnight. now I'm down to about 50'. better go put wood in the stove while I can still see:mad:
